I have already mentioned this in my build thread, but for better exposure I thought I'd make a new thread to make this easier to find for people who are thinking about doing this. A couple of weeks ago, an idea popped up in my head. Fortunately for me, a scrapyard 10mins away from me had two seats out of a ISh SE. Fitting them was very easy. Take the seat rail bolt covers off, take 4 bolts out, unplug everything from your factory seat and it's out. Undo one nut that holds the seat belt buckle on your 2IS seat and put it on the new 3IS seat. Now you can take put the new seat in. So far, very easy.. You can't plug anything else in as the connectors look slightly different, so you will have an airbag light on in the cluster. You can either ignore it, cover the bulb by removing the cluster, put a resistor in the plug so the car thinks it's plugged in OR make it fit. However you gotta do something to pass the MOT as they will want to fail you because you have something lit on the dash. That's gone because the ISh seat was from an SE model that didn't come with it.

Wondering if it's a straight swap or not. Ideally want to keep the heated seat function. Not too fussed about losing ventilation feature. I know someone has done it on their 3rd Gen IS but nothing about 2nd gen. I suppose so longs as it's gen 2 seat from an ISF then I can't see any fitment issues. I swapped 3IS seats into my 2IS.. Same mounting holes etc. Seat belt buckle needs transferring over by that's a matter of one 17mm I think nut. Same amount of pins IIRC.

Daily drivability the 2is diff feels the same as my 3is diff I don't have the dhp so I have an open differential, 3. During the first week of the installation you and the car have to get used to the new ratios, there will be harsh shifts at first but eventually the car will drive as smooth as it beforehand. Part of the reason of creating this thread is because I don't see an improvement in performance, for years the lexus community has discussed that the 3is is slower in comparison to the 2is because of the gearing with many people wanting to swap the differential, there are only two recorded swaps but none of them have gone in detail comparing numbers. I took the risk and swapped it. In theory shouldn't I be running faster times? Last edited by FennyMike; at AM.

Would be awesome to have these in my 2is especially because my grey seats are starting to look dirty. I didn't have any issues with the factory seats in terms of comfort either though. I want to say they will fit because just from looking at it, the shape looks too similar, but who knows for sure. I will be doing this later today maybe if time allows otherwise within the next 2 weeks.
