I'm sure audiences familiar the Hollywood style of scoring were shocked by Morricone's music with its series of whistles, chirps, and other experimental sounds.

A wandering gunfighter plays two rival families against each other in a town torn apart by greed, pride, and revenge. With nothing but profit on his mind, a taciturn American with a lightning-fast right hand rides into San Miguel, a sun-bleached border town where everyone is either rich or dead. As the amoral man with no name discovers that the sleepy town provides the perfect opportunity to make a quick buck, the mysterious stranger soon finds himself caught in the middle of a destructive, long-standing feud.
A cigarillo smoking stranger Eastwood rides into the Mexican border town of San Miguel, a town in which rival factions are battling for control: there are those employed by Sheriff John Baxter, who sell whiskey and guns to the Indians, and those led by Ramon Rojo. As he rides into town, the Man With No Name occasionally referred to as Joe is taunted by the Baxters, who shoot at his mule's feet. Upon discovering the status quo in the town from an innkeeper - and being warned to leave town as soon as possible - the stranger rides over to the Rojos and offers his services. He then takes revenge on the four men who harassed him, gunning them down in the street, and demonstrating his prowess. Hired by the Rojos - who want him fighting for them rather than against - the stranger witnesses an ambush by the Rojos, in which they steal gold from a band of soldiers.

Sergio Leone shared a rebellious desire to tumble the old values and present the audience with a new, more mystifying piece of storytelling And I've been a huge fan every since. The Man with No Name, by contrast, was deliberately presented as an amoral anti-hero. Edit page. New Customer? These were entertainment pieces first and foremost. Details Edit. He gets the wife to live with him as hostage. Sergio Leone pioneered a lot of things here. Clint Eastwood said that all he knew in Italian was "arrevadershi" and all Leone knew in English was "goodbye" and yet these two combined to make an awesome film. The cigar acted as a sort of pendant to those ice-cold eyes The chief reason "A Fistful of Dollars" is not three times as bloody is that Leone was working on a low-budget and couldn't afford such luxuries. It is my personal favorite western movie of all time.

Rojo Gang Member uncredited Nino del Arco He brings the tension, mystery and swagger to the film. The series had ended and he was offered this strange new and challenging role in this movie of the American West that was made in Italy! This classic Western contains slow and deliberating filming , elaborate shoot-outs , and portentous close-ups of grime-encrustred faces with bloodbaths included. Clint Eastwood was best known to American audiences for his role as Rowdy Yates in the series Rawhide. Here was a new idea of anti-irony: a western that made fun of itself by being just a little more serious than sense would allow. Movies that rise to the top in spite of their weaknesses by means of style and creativity are extremely rare, and they're usually an indicator of a film that's a game-changer to the art form.
