This is a difficult book, not only because of the wealth of lore much of which subtly shifts from edition to edition, meaning you need to choose what to focus on and run with that , but also because of the 40K comedy memes that do the rounds, just like in any fandom. Abaddon, however, gets hit hardest by a barrage of misunderstandings, and lore that remained fairly vague in the past. What I can offer today is something a little fresher. From the source, so to speak. Over the course of all these exchanges with various people who thankfully took the time to lay out a bajillion words and share their insights with me , a lot of the back and forth discussions revolved around just what it means to be Warmaster of Chaos. Everyone mostly said the same thing in different words, which matched my plans down the line, and that was a pleasant slice of reassurance, let me tell you. In short, this project has been an absolute dream to research.

Also, we had a baby in December. Firstly, I finished Echoes of Eternity last year, back in September. Right now, the book exists somewhere, drenched in delicious secrecy, imprisoned in the metaphorical chains of scheduling. Perhaps this admin-based embrace makes the text all toasty and warm? Perhaps not; perhaps it grows increasingly sour with the resentment of the untouched. Things are pretty crazy in the world right now, especially in terms of global supply chains and release schedules. I can offer some context on that, though, which I fear will be another boring answer. You already know how my mental health affects my writing, because most of you have been reading my work for years. My suicide attempt was a decision to end twenty years of mental gears grinding and going nowhere. The same way you get to choose what face you present to the world. But relatively speaking, in terms of my writing process — it went great. But, nope, it was the usual spread of staring mystified at nine sentences on a screen for 14 hours a day, desperate to turn them into ten sentences. Pun not intended. All that good stuff. Happiness is a process.

The Night Lords were once among the most potent forces of the Imperium, Space Marines who used fear itself as their weapon. Now, cast adrift from the Emperor's light and hunted as heretics after their monstrous betrayal, the Night Lords clad themselves in symbols of death and fight the Long War, bringing pain and terror to all who worship the corpse-god of Terra.

I did a lot of screenwriting on my writing degree. But Abaddon is, as said, a sneaky git. In a move that will shock nobody, Ryze: The Burning Lands is about gasp! Sure, all 40K characters are unreliable narrators. No matter how much sb loves him. Older than you. Right now, the book exists somewhere, drenched in delicious secrecy, imprisoned in the metaphorical chains of scheduling. The Black Legion Series really stands on the shoulders of giants, though. So annoying. Why the fuck not?

Plus, Space Marines interact with certain groups of humans a huge amount, especially Chapter serfs or Imperial commanders, and those are always tense, cool, socially and psychologically laden interactions to delve into. Abaddon, despite being a total monster, is also a rational actor. I have two vague Kill Team possibilities on the horizon. Or even after reading all this. Email Required Name Required Website. You basically have the Space Wolves kill a Grey Knight Grand Master, then kill an important Ordo Malleus Inquisitor before engaging the Inquisition in full scale warfare over Fenris before the Inquisition is forced to back off without really doing much of anything to the Wolves. Get help. What a journey, right?
