Sign In. AKA Hide Spoilers. Hollywood should take notes and learn a lot from this film. This is a low budget so the special effect is basic. The fight choreography is very simple but excellently executed, but I'll elaborate further in the next paragraph. Soundtrack didn't ruin the film. The fight or action scene was surprisingly old school and excellently timed. The best things about the fight scenes are how effective and good the timings and movements were well planned and make sense as if it was directed by a martial artist coach for a marine or army. The actors act good, the main character is a bit too stoic but he was supposed to have an air of mystery. And then the direction of the director was very enjoyable. Almost like music video but with a specific street wise style. And in conclusion, this is one of the most enjoyable low budgeted action movie.
AKA sees him reuniting with director and co-writer Morgan S.
Morgan S. He carries out infiltration on the behest of his political masters and gets his hands dirty in the process. Operating with assumed identities and multiple passports, his cold, tight-lipped and efficient manner are ideal for the job. The end justifies the means, as in all cases of national intelligence. When he is flown back to France to work on the case of a Sudanese man called Moktar Al Tayeb Kevin Layne , once an ally but now radicalised, he asks his veteran boss something out of character: Since when do you organise operations in France? He is to assume the identity of an infamous criminal by the name of Adam Franco during the operation. The government has been hunting Al Tayeb for years and his presence in the country presents their best chance.
The former stuntman is one of the most fascinating up-and-coming action stars. Over the past few years, action fans have been treated to a run of solid French programming on Netflix. The latest entry in this burgeoning scene is AKA , a new Netflix pickup that stars Alban Lenoir as Adam Franco, a highly skilled special-ops agent faced with one of his most dangerous assignments yet. Franco is implanted undercover on the security team of a notorious crime lord infamous soccer legend Eric Cantona, a tough guy once suspended from the sport for kicking a fan. A few years after that came Lost Bullet , a tightly contained vehicular thriller where Lenoir plays Lino, a master mechanic and thief pulled into a scheme by crooked cops and framed for murder. In order to prove his innocence, he has to find the last remaining piece of evidence from the crime — a single lost bullet. Lost Bullet and Lost Bullet 2 are among the best action movies of the decade, using simple narratives to construct elaborate, kinetic set pieces. His characters get hit plenty, and are frequently exhausted by the grueling fights they wind up in.

I was a little lost at the cleanup after the main resolution was over but probably because I was multi-tasking. Powered by Alexa. The actors act good, the main character is a bit too stoic but he was supposed to have an air of mystery. Click to copy. There is no romanticism to be had. So bravo le compositeur. A few plot holes and I questioned how he could get so engrained in a crime organization like this by just showing up, but I could look through those points due to the timing and fluid story throughout. Also, he is an actual stuntman, so he really knows how to do action in the physical sense. Heroes with good souls who have to decide who to protect, whose orders to follow, and what to fight for. Overall, this was solid action and a pretty good foreign made film that I didn't really notice being an American. There are good combats but also shooting scenes with a great performance of the main agent. This is an ideal role for Lenoir, who handles the punching and shooting parts of action movies well, but really excels at the brooding. The cinematography, locations and scenery are interesting and different. After escaping from his captors inside a cave in Libya, he not only slaughters a group of terrorists but also kills their main hostage-a woman we expect him to save.
Lenoir stars as Adam Franco, a stoic bruiser who overcame a tragic childhood to find a home in law enforcement as an undercover agent.
And then the direction of the director was very enjoyable. Dalibert was the cinematographer on Lost Bullet org. And it just might make this gig even more complicated than it already is. Couple of comments: this is the feature length directing debut of Morgan Dalibert, previously a well-known cinematographer. Trailer Did you really expect the film's screenwriters to depict Moktar as a vicious bad guy spouting fundamentalist slogans? Both due to the intelligent and complex story as well as the awesome action scenes! The drugs' den takeout is very much stylised like Oldboy but with guns instead of a hammer. Staff Picks: What to Watch in March. The Criterion Collection.
