The locals spend many pleasurable hours here, often with the accompaniment of live music. There is a restaurant and public toilets here. The marina is surrounded by hotels and holiday homes in addition to a large casino which provides regular evening entertainment such as dances and shows. When I was contacted by Sofia Vieira, owner of the Refugio da Vila in the city of Portel within the Alentejo region; I jumped at the chance to explore another area of the country I so love.
