Haven't really tried those cafe ones - sensory lab pretty famous does beans and ground coffee at coles now and I've tried two bags of it and still rate the ALDI one over it. I rate Lime Blue and wish it was what I'm drinking right now. I have switched to Daley street from Coles. But they list the roast date on pack, and every time i've bought it, it has been less than a month old. I didn't mind Aldi dark roast and also thought it was the best of all supermarket options. All Aldi's Lazzio beans have the roast date on the pack and I've never seen anything older than weeks. Since when?

The German retailer has beat out other notable coffee competitors to take out the title for Overall Large Chain Champion at the annual The Golden Bean awards. The contest is Australia's largest coffee roasting awards, and Aldi's Lazzio brand has snapped up the top honour for the third year running. The coffee brand was chosen from more than entries, spanning the who's who of Aussie coffee. The house brand coffee range took home six medals spanning a range of categories, from Filter Coffee, to Espresso and Milk Based Espresso beverages. The range includes Single Origin Beans spanning Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Honduras, with medium-to-dark roasts, and ground coffee also included. Aldi's coffee partner since , Victorian-based Black Bag Roasters, is behind the award-winning bean range, and has garnered a cult following in the course of the past seven years. Aldi Australia Coffee Buying Director Varun Raheja said the retailer was delighted to be recognised a third consecutive time. Lance Brown, General Manager at Black Bag Roasters, said the win was testament to the ongoing product quality and consistency of their beans.
