He did become a Mr. America, moved to California, got a stake in a gym out there and then got an invitation to audition for a TV show called "American Gladiators.

Steve Henneberry hadn't seen "American Gladiators" when the first season aired on TV in , but when a photographer handed him a VHS tape of the pilot episode, he wasn't impressed. Henneberry, born in raised in Muskego and a graduate of Waterford High School, nevertheless continued to ponder trying out for a spot in the cast of the hyper-athletic reality competition. The next morning, he packed a cooler in his car and made the trip from San Diego to Los Angeles. When he got there, he found he'd be competing with numerous other bodybuilders for a role on the still-fledgling program. Fortunately for Henneberry, a baseball and football player at Waterford, he separated himself from the pack thanks to his performance in the show's athletic tests. And then, he had something else up his sleeve. What do you see? We see a bunch of big buff guys, but they're all , , they're short. I'm 6-foot-4, I'm different and I want to be the Tower.
