Aria was raised in Minneapolis by his parents who immigrated to the US from Iran not long before he was born. He became interested in acting while still attending elementary school, after being encouraged by his teacher to appear in a school play. He matriculated in , and then enrolled at Southern Oregon University, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theatre in Aria worked several jobs to financially support himself while attending high school, and later college. He worked at Pier A and Rue B lounge as a bartender, and there learned a lot about seafood, serving food and making cocktails. It follows the police detective Carrie Wells, who has the ability to remember every detail of what she sees.
