The MCU has done an admirable job of adapting the wide and dynamic world created in Marvel comics. Yet, it's not possible to include everything shown in the comics. And that sometimes means that changes have to be made along the way. Sometimes these changes focus on characters or plots. Other times, these changes are about location.

Maybe stuff before that too Anyway, from my understanding of it, Thor and Odin and people are always talking about "The Nine Realms", which are connected to each other, and include Asgard, Midgard, Jottenheim, etc. And so there was a 10th realm, which Odin disconnected from the other 9 long ago? And this realm is called "Heven", and is inhabited by Angels? So is this supposed to be the biblical Heaven, just as Asgard is meant to be the same Asgard of Norse mythology? If so, are Christians mad that Marvel designated Heaven in the same way as old Norse mythology which is regarded now as fiction? Dystroph Topic Creator 9 years ago 2. Also, I believe the "9 realms" thing is actually in Norse mythology, isn't it? So the 10th realm is just an idea Marvel added to it in their comics version of Norse mythology?

Heven was one of the Ten Realms. Its inhabitants, the Angels , waged a war against Asgard. The Odinforce Curse was so powerful that the Angels used it to power their world. The entry to Heven was eventually reopened by Thor and Loki. Desperate, the Queen of Angels sought Angela's aid, but she refused to help despite the Queen's offers.
Asgard was the home of the mighty Norse gods, from where they watched over the other eight realms and administered justice. It was also the final resting place of the dead and where Odin, King of the Gods, held court. Asgard played an essential part in the Norse stories and is still prevalent in some popular culture today. Many of us know of Asgard from the Marvel Universe, but how did the Norse people really think about the realm of the Gods? Asgard was part of a complex system of beliefs held by Scandinavian and Germanic people. The general mythological tradition in which the ideas of Asgard can be placed is thought to have developed in about BC where it took the form of religious and material culture.

Asgard is connected to the human realm, Midgard , by the rainbow bridge Bifrost. Likened to Mount Olympus of Greek mythology, Asgard is a land of unmatched beauty and lush abundance. Asgard shares many similarities with the Greek home of the gods , Mount Olympus. This world is gloriously scenic and filled with lush rolling hills, abundant water, and a clear sight of the world below. From his place in Asgard, the Norse god Odin can see all that happens in Midgard, the dwelling place of humans. While slain Viking warriors who died in battle would be brought to one of two places in Asgard by the Valkyries , Asgard is not technically Norse heaven. Even Valhalla, the hall where half the Viking warriors were taken after death, does not fit the traditional concept of heaven. Like many pre-Christianity faith traditions , people from the Viking age generally went to the realm of the dead. In Norse mythology, this realm is known as Helheim and is ruled by the goddess Hel. Entrance into Asgard was granted only to those chosen by the Valkyries.
