Autozone rivet gun
Before I stop at AutoZone on the way home from work tonight, I thought I'd ask here and possibly save me a stop. The stupid garage door came down on my front plate mount and popped it off effortlessly. I wish I could just toss the front plate I have a pop rivet tool. I'm operating under the assumption that the back side of the bumper cover on an '03 is not accessable at that location. You can get the correct rivets from Ford but do note that due to their large size, they won't fit a common pop rivet gun. I thought about using that if I ever put my license bracket back on. BTW- are there some kind of plugs out there to cover these two nice holes I have in my front bumper since removing the bracket? Isn't the actual bumper-beam back there? Quote: drunderw

A rivet gun is an integral part of installing rivets. Rivets are a useful fastener that is designed to hold two materials together, for example two sheets of metal. The mandrel goes through the inside of the hat, getting pulled during the installation. During this pulling process, the mandrel deforms the back of the hat before snapping, leaving a clean, finished application. There are a number of varieties of rivet gun available, including a hand rivet gun, lever riveter, battery powered riveting tools and pnuematic rivet guns. Hand powered rivet guns work with a simple lever and require manual squeezing from an operator. This style of rivet gun comes with several nose piece options to fit a range of blind rivets. When used repeatedly, it can be very stressful on the hands, wrists and forearms, which makes it a better option for smaller projects. The next step up from hand rivet guns are lever riveting tools which are able to work with a wider range of sizes. They are for more heavy duty work, and are easier on the user — despite requiring physical strength by the user due to the larger size and lever action.

Rivet-setting pressures are high. This axial force must be applied to the rivet in order to mushroom the shop head concentrically. Any nonaxial force vector will tend to bend rather than expand the rivet. Next, the individual material pieces need to be firmly clamped together during this setting process so that no intermediate space allows the rivet to swell between the materials. Finally, the components cannot be allowed to move relative to each other during the setting, or the rivet or the forces applied to the rivet will tend to deform the material and not the rivet. Two riveting procedures have evolved.

I haven't used the nut-sert type rivets much, but they definitetly have a place. Thread starter ptgarcia Start date Jun 24, I can unsubscribe anytime to withdraw my consent. Due to access we got a stanley with a swivel head to try. I'm good with buying the appropriate tool like the XL riveter from Astro or maybe the Milwaukee electric riveter , I just want to make sure it fits before I do.

Buy a half way decent pop rivet gun and new rivets and be done with it. Find More Posts by Corvette All times are GMT New posts. My friend who operates a pressure washer sales and repair business, and a motorcycle repair shop, likes this one, FYI he has toolchests full of Snap-On stuff, but he's quite happy with this one. I'm reassembling my motorcycle muffler after a repack and all the nose pieces on my borrowed cheap Dorman hand riveter from Autozone are too small for the stainless steel rivets provided. Log in. I broke all the cheap rivet guns we had.
Here there can not be a mistake?
You are not right. I am assured. Let's discuss it. Write to me in PM.
