Which is a shame, because the its products usually look and sound great. These have been out for a few years now and there are new version of this, but is the original still worth picking up in ? Spoiler alert: nope. The case itself is gorgeous with a pleather exterior has an elastic band that make it easy to wrap around the key chain holder in your bag, so you always know where it is.

Wireless earphones and headphones come in all shapes and sizes. This new breed of devices is made for those who want to cut the wire, literally. The Beoplay E8 are available in racing green, black and grey with a bronze trim. No matter the colour you choose, though, the design and performance attributes are identical. The earphones have a left and right indicator shown within the inner part of the silicone housing. A plastic enclosure sits towards the edge of the housing, where a metal ring surrounds a touch-based sensor that can be used to perform various basic controls. Tapping the right ear piece lets you play or pause music, answer and hang-up calls, while a long-press increases the volume. The level of transparency is adjustable through the Beoplay app. For touch controls, these are pretty good, which is more than I can say of the touch controls on rival headphones. The earphones fit snugly, too, and to my surprise, they even stayed in during a light jog. Battery life is limited to around four hours of playtime, which might not sound like much, but the leather carrying pod case included in the box houses a secondary battery that can provide a couple of extra full charges for a total of 12 hours. The carrying case itself takes around two and a half hours to charge from empty and connects via Micro USB. There are, however, a few complaints. The right earbud acts as the master driver, which means if you get the right bud out of your ears, the slave driver left stops working. This can get annoying if you want to keep listening to music via your left-ear only, though, the opposite side will work.

However, if you want to customize the default sound profile, you can use the TouchTone EQ in their companion app. Once in your ear, they don't tend to move.

They look and feel like premium headphones and have a durable build quality that's compact and stable enough for sports. They also have a comfortable in-ear fit that isolates you from an impressive amount of noise. Unfortunately, they can sound a bit sharp, and their control scheme takes a bit of time to get used to. They're great for sports and commuting, thanks to their compact, stable design and surprisingly good passive isolation. They're also sufficiently comfortable for an in-ear and barely leak even at high volumes.

Our current favourites are the Sony WFX , which are like AirPods but with excellent sound and effective noise cancellation. The Beoplay E8, too, are like AirPods — but they look and sound a whole lot better. The design of the Beoplay E8 is nothing short of lush. Having something sticking out of your ears is always going to look a little silly; this is definitely a category of electronics where less is more. The Beoplay E8 offer a super-subtle design that mixes plastic with aluminium accents. Related: Best true wireless earbuds.

This is a brand that sits above the likes of Ultimate Ears and more than holds its own against premium other premium brands such as Bose for performance and sound quality. The Danish have a global reputation for offering stylish and sophisticated versions of trending products. Every part of this product looks fantastic. From the gorgeous case that comes with an elastic band that you can use to use to wrap your earphones around your wrist, to the iconic logo emblazoned on the earbuds themselves. Notably, however, the right earbud is slightly heavier one gram than the left, because it contains slightly more technology. The third generation of the E8 earbuds is even slightly more lightweight than its previous counterparts. The amount of power you get overall will depend on how loud you like your music. The earphones fit into the case with a secure metallic click which offers some fantastic peace of mind. The technology recognizes your commands with touch-screen performance.

The earphones themselves look good and skip any awkwardness that can arise from buttons sticking out. But once you memorize the correct amount of taps and holds, the touch-sensitive earbuds are easy to control. But when I listen to them, I feel satisfied for the comparatively high price. Sure there are plenty of cheaper options, and plenty of more expensive ones. Like with any touch-sensitive control, they do take a bit of getting used to. They also charge quickly at 1. It will shield the headphones from impacts and drops and has a decently high-end feel thanks to the leather coating. The volume controls especially are a bit of a hit or miss. In the outdoors we heard the first drop-outs after about 35 metres, so for range, the E8 are on par with the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 ; inside a building the first drop-outs could be heard after about 10 metres. They're compact and don't cover the ears, which barely causes a temperature difference when exercising or working out. Their control scheme can be tricky at times, but their decently comfortable design and relatively long battery life should be enough for most trips. Like other truly wireless earbuds, the E8s turn on immediately when removed from their case.

The touch controls are responsive, while the ear fins make sure they stay in place during your workout — but the price tag may make you think twice about picking these up.

Driven by data, run by a passionate team of engineers, testers, technical writers, developers, and more. Unfortunately, there's not much feedback or a distinct auditory chime to let you know you're in pairing mode. Line In. There are three different transparency presets you can choose. They also have a smaller case that's easier to carry around and a better control scheme, although it can be a little confusing at first. Our Rating :. We mentioned the case looks great but how does it perform as a charging device? While the Bose are smaller, they also have worse controls. Accidentally toss the carry case somewhere or drop it, and the earbuds stay safely stored away. Channel Mixing. Feedback Mediocre. Recorded Speech. Your email address will not be published.
