Chalamet stars in edgy, intense, ultra-gory book adaptation. The mood veers sharply from tender romance to extremely intense violence and horror and back again…. As downbeat and violent as this film is, there are still messages to be found about how marginalized people find comfort together, and the pain experienced by those who hurt others. Lee and Maren are relatable and tragic characters. They're caught in the grip of an irresistible impulse and only want to live their lives in peace. Even villains in this complicated movie have complex and understandable motivations. One of the two main characters is a young woman of color; her race is never mentioned she's played by Taylor Russell, who has a Black father and a White mother , but her youth and gender are referred to by others who think that makes her an easy target it doesn't. The other main character and most side characters are White.
This book truly messed up with my emotions and I don't know why but that's why I find this book so amazing. She acts and talks like her age.

Beautifully written and utterly absorbing from the first word, this is a haunting coming-of-age novel that's good enough to eat. Abandoned by her mother with only some cash, her birth certificate and the rucksack on her back, a young woman named Maren sets off on a long journey of self-discovery. She doesn't blame her mother for leaving; she's only too aware of the trail of pain and tragedy that lies in her wake, following her like a ghost. Innumerable schools and relocations later, Maren is determined to find the key to who she is, and why she does the things she does. For Maren has urges that she can't control. Cannibalistic urges. And now she's desperate to take control. Delicious fun. A commentary on young women's sexuality, reliance on self, and being about who you are rather than where you came from

The book reads like a cheesy episode of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. Maren started eating people when she was a little kid. She devoured the kind babysitter who showed her affection, and things only got worse from there. She ate a boy who befriended her at summer camp. She ate other people. He weaves a rope out of hair from people he's eaten. Maren decides to find her dad by herself, and at a Wal-Mart in the middle of the country, she finally meets another cannibal closer to her own age. Lee is someone she quickly relates to. His first kill was his babysitter, too.

This book sounded really weird, so, naturally, I had to read it. She's one of the authors that we have to watch out for. Jump to ratings and reviews. Not only is it disturbing, graphic, disgusting, and overall traumatizing. When she parted my lips and put her forefinger inside - mothers are the bravest creatures, and mine is the bravest of all - she found something hard between my gums. Lee, a lonely soul who's been cast out of his family and home without a friend pitiable , murders passing strangers in the town he wanders through yikes. By turns romantic, delicate, terrifying, and positively nauseating, this book-based horror romance is an unsettling yet strangely beautiful cinematic experience that lingers. In some moments, you may find yourself wanting nothing more than for these two to cast off their bloody practices and continue drifting romantically from one beautiful empty American vista to another. Who is she? I wanted to love this book, and I wish I had. In one scene, cannibals wait for an elderly woman to die she's shown moaning and shaking in pain before they start taking bites from her nude body bare breasts shown. So what?
By pointing the camera at photographs of the victim, an elderly woman, on vacation or with her loved ones, he preserves her humanity.
I understand I'm getting into the weeds here, but throughout the entirety of the book, Maren consumes primarily men her age or older, and it just doesn't make any sense, since we're not to assume she has razor-sharp teeth or super strength or anything. That much more treasured. A mixture of all of these emotions? A lot of the potential high points of the story did not get the time they deserved. Wait, what was the point of this book? By turns romantic, delicate, terrifying, and positively nauseating, this book-based horror romance is an unsettling yet strangely beautiful cinematic experience that lingers. Positive Messages As downbeat and violent as this film is, there are. A big problem with the story was that Maren as a character didn't feel realistic. Unfortunately, that's where my joy with the story ended. It's just that this book was boring. When we are not accepted and embraced for who we are, we begin to feel shame, regret, and eventually hate ourselves. But I still wasn't prepared. I understand that this may not be for everybody because of Maren's identity.
It is very a pity to me, I can help nothing, but it is assured, that to you will help to find the correct decision.
Talent, you will tell nothing..
