The second Raptor, released in the s, saw an upgrade to four horsepower standard. This would be the year that Briggs introduced the aluminum-bore dual-bearing block. It had a cast-aluminum connecting rod that decreased internal mass and improved engine life. The only thing different from the II was that this one had a cast-alloy crank with a carbon-infused piston. This engine sold phenomenally, however, and almost phased out its two predecessors.

Karting has grown by leaps and bounds in the past two decades, spurred on by the enormous popularity not to mention television coverage of major league racing series such as NASCAR, Champcar, Formula One and others. Any performance cam will do fine. SmallEngine H. EDIT - If you want to stick with the stock rod, go the safe route and get a nylon dipper. They can also withstand bursts of 10,RPM. You could get a whole new dual spring set, with retainers and keepers, or just new springs, with hardened retainers. Many people say they saw a bigger gain with a 3 angle cut than bigger valves.
