For the past year and a half, once a week I have a bunch of friends over to my house for a weekly game night where we all get together and play Dungeons and Dragons. Tame the pitter-patter of your fluttering hearts and calm the rush of blood to your nethers, I'm taken. With such a large group, we need quite a bit of space, which for the past 18 months has meant my dining room table. While everyone does fit around this table, it gets a little elbowy with all seven people plus all of their books and notes and stuff taking up positions around the table. That's before you even account for me with all of my DM shit taking up a chunk of surface area. I decided that it was for the best if I actually set up a space to be a designated game room. Also I accidentally painted it basketball orange so. The centerpiece and focal point of this room, would of course be the gaming table. On top of that, the options I found that were remotely reasonable in cost were not what I was looking for aesthetically speaking. Now, I won't name any companies specifically, but I'll just say that if i'm going to get a gaming table that is to be considered in any way ultimate , it's sure as sh!

If you wanted to do this, it would be a simple matter of getting another board at whatever width you felt was suitable for the DM area. Since the base of the table was only 25" tall, it fit through the door frames just fine when turned sideways, build your own board game table. It was either that or go buy more wood, and once again, laziness and aesthetics are not mutually exclusive.

May 20, All in all, this project lasted about 9 weeks from start to finish. I actually tried using my router to make the dados, but that took way too long and created too much saw dust. Once that was completely dry, I used the router with the flush bit to trim off the last bit of excess to ensure that the armrest met the riser wall perfectly this helps account for any fluctuations from warped riser wood and a non-square frame. By RoguePirin Follow. Since I wanted to use plywood for the base, I chose to add oak trim to all ends that were exposed. The next thing to do is cut out all these little nubbin boys here. With the crisscross design, and the two end panels, I had an I-Beam structure with an added cross in the middle. With those constraints in mind, I designed the table to you see here. I think I ended up using one screw every 5". This took some figuring as it was poorly marked on the original plans I had, and the walkthrough video didn't cover it, but this framing is done by cutting the two pieces on the long sides of the table so they extend past the end of the table, while the pieces on the short sides sit inside. Yes, this is the first time that a cut had to be made other than to length in my design. Participated in the Epilog Contest 8 View Contest. Note that even though the frame is supposed to be 3' 9" x 5' 9", I was cutting all this free-hand with a circular saw.

If you are a game lover, a gaming table would be the best consideration for you.

On top of that, the options I found that were remotely reasonable in cost were not what I was looking for aesthetically speaking. No glue was used here, as I want the ability to separate the pieces to get it back out of the basement in the future. I had the following constraints in mind when I set out on this project:. Thanks Thanks for taking the time to read my instructable. I repeated this process on the other long side. But, it turns out, that this was a blessing due to the fact that all wood from a big box store was slightly warped, and since I don't have a planer, I couldn't do much about it more on this later. It looks like this when it's done:. So I decided to make my own. In remote locations we may need to use a third party carrier. Link to the cupholders: here. I did however get a little ambitious with some ideas for some slight upgrades to add a little bit of tech flare to my setup.
