You are using an out of date clustering proxmox. After setting up this storage, move all data and VMs from the node to it.
In a previous post , we mentioned that a Proxmox cluster is multimaster, meaning there are no master—slave nodes, and the cluster can be effectively managed from any node. Proxmox uses a Corosync cluster engine, which uses a quorum-based voting technique to ensure consistent configuration among all the nodes of a cluster. The cluster configuration is distributed to all nodes with the help of a Proxmox cluster file system pmxcfs. I connected to my first Proxmox server pmox-host1. Click the Datacenter option at the top, choose Cluster, and then click the Create Cluster button. Create Cluster option in Proxmox VE web interface. Give a unique name to your Proxmox cluster, and select a link for the cluster network.
In this tutorial, we will look at how to set up a cluster in Proxmox. There are many benefits to setting up a cluster in Proxmox. Not only will you be able to manage all of your Proxmox instances centrally, but you can migrate virtual machines and containers from one host to another, and you can easily configure high availability HA. The exception is if you use one as a test server only and even then, you might be able to gain some benefits from configuring it. A Proxmox cluster refers to a group of Proxmox servers networked together. Within this cluster, multiple Proxmox servers share resources and function as a single system. The steps below will explain how to set up a Proxmox Cluster. Before proceeding, install Proxmox VE on each node and then proceed to configure the cluster in Proxmox. In my example, I have two Proxmox servers pve-test and pve-test2 which we will use to configure this.
Clustering proxmox
The Proxmox VE cluster manager pvecm is a tool to create a group of physical servers. Such a group is called a cluster. We use the Corosync Cluster Engine for reliable group communication. In practice, the actual possible node count may be limited by the host and network performance. Currently , there are reports of clusters using high-end enterprise hardware with over 50 nodes in production. Use of pmxcfs , a database-driven file system, for storing configuration files, replicated in real-time on all nodes using corosync. All nodes must be able to connect to each other via UDP ports for corosync to work. If you are interested in High Availability, you need to have at least three nodes for reliable quorum.

It may be useful however, as you can then connect from one node to another via SSH, using the easier to remember node name see also Link Address Types. This is not enough if corosync cannot start anymore. So in theory two hosts can failure and i still have no data loss. Proxmox VE assigns a single vote to each node by default. They will then join the cluster membership one by one on the new network. As soon as the node is added to the cluster, the server certificate is changed, so you need to reload the page and log in again to the Proxmox VE web interface. You can do this to test and ensure that everything is functional on the node. You can still enable Multicast or legacy unicast by setting your transport to udp or udpu in your corosync. A restart should not be necessary. Join our IT community and read articles without ads! The node is now separated from the cluster. Migration Network By default, Proxmox VE uses the network in which cluster communication takes place to send the migration traffic. The cool feature you get with a Proxmox cluster is that you can still migrate your VM or container , even if you're using local storage. Then, click on the button Copy Information. The second node will now be added to the Proxmox cluster. Your Proxmox cluster has now been created. This would cause link1 to be used first, since it has the higher priority. They will then join the cluster membership one by one on the new network. Before we join a cluster, we have to set up a few firewall rules so that both Proxmox instances can talk to each other.
