Gents, I have the chance to pickup a consew It is as near as I can tell an older machine. Needs some cosmetic cleanup. Is this of any use for leather. It looks a lot like a to me. Not sure it would work but I have it. I have no use for a blind stitch bt couldn't pass up a table and a motor at that price. Thanks for any thoughts Ross. Ok gang here is what I picked up. IT needs cleaned up and is missing part of the foot. I am betting as I go over I will find more things it needs. I couldn't pass it up for that kind of money. I welcome opinions and Bob do you sell parts? Bob, It needs work mostly cleanup and cosmetic and then I will see what I really got but that kinda price I just had too. I know very little about sewing machines yes I see you sewing machine gurus cringing but mechanical I am pretty good I have redone two landis G and a and all are working fine so far so just another adventure at a good price Ross.

I did some searching but didn't find much in the way to answer my questions. If this has been answered many times before, please feel free to point me to the relevant thread. So, I pulled up the PDF manual on the Consew machine I just bought and was reading over the needle and thread sizes that are recommended. All of my machines in the past worked fine with domestic all purpose thread, but I know that won't be true in this case. I can't find any websites that have pics of the needles and thread up close or to scale, so I am having a hard time selecting what will be appropriate for my work. Would you be kind enough to help me? Which would you use for thick stuff like veg-tan? First of all, if you intend to use household polyester, polycore, or cotton thread, your chart looks accurate. The thinnest nylon thread we normally use is referred to as 69, or T70 thread, which is a Government standard. Size 69 bonded nylon thread has a breaking point of 11 pounds and is available in just about every color you could use, in spools from 4 ounces up to 1 pound.

Im super new to machines. This would be my first one. I wanted to ask you a few questions. I signed up for leatherworker. The knowledge and responses here were so impressive I wanted to ask. I have an option to purchase either a Consew or a Consew RB.

Undead thanks for the comment on the feed plate and what you do I started thinking about what I need for that tonight. I've done dozens of car interiors, boat covers, Bimini tops, dog collars etc. Website Online. It would still grip when fully engaged but slipped a little more before hand. Mine was originally used in a factory and set up for piece work. I am trying to use 92 thread and I tried a size 18 needle and a size 19 needle. The machine clutch goes out won't run the needle and walking foot.
