I previously owned a craftsman saw that had the tabletop made out of aluminium. Frequently when I would feed plywood into the table it would tip the whole saw. Before I go any further though I have to say I have a weird myopic bias for and against Craftsman tools. I believe that Craftsman makes the worlds best hand tools. No one beats them, and the warranty they provide. Power tools on the other hand are a different story.

This is a very popular contractor saw from Craftsman and when you see what you are getting for your money its easy to see why. As with all table saws there are some features that people absolutely love, and some, not so much. The weight of this saw may will appeal to a many woodworkers where portability is not an issue but the extra stability and accuracy that comes with heavy cast iron tables is high on the list. If space is limited in your workshop and need the ability to move the table saw. Its deployed by pressing a foot lever which drops and locks the the wheels allowing for the saw to be moved.

Before I go any further though I have to say I have a weird myopic bias for and against Craftsman tools. No riving knife option is depressing though. Occasionally I have seen fences on CL, but not too often. It has the miter gauge [I have an incra though], the rip fence, and cast iron table extensions as well as the manual and rolling stand. Why is he selling? Please consider creating a new thread. Still mechanism is very hard. Thanks in advance! It's also a lot quieter, more stable, should have more torque, and is easier to upgrade down the road. Top Contributors this Month View All.

Designed with both professionals and DIY enthusiasts in mind, this saw is a standout in terms of power, precision, and portability.

I'm thinking 1. This saw for the money and performance was a perfect balance for what I need. My space is fairly limited so it being on wheels would be a huge benefit as most I've seen used do not have mobile bases [although that's 'fixable']. That it be easily adjusted and easily calibrated [if necessary]. There sure is a lot more operating room in front of the blade on the Cman. That said - I could make do with a crappy fence for a few weeks if I had to. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. I plan to use my router but it is a good basis for comparison of power I think no? Being that I'm not real familiar with them I wouldn't know what to look for as far as the unit being in good shape beyond it simply appearing to be in good shape. Why is he selling? How do you get yours lined up right? I don't know how much of an argument I could make about the fence - I could say the fence it comes with is crappy and I'd be replacing it but that's more of my problem than theirs.
