The ferret nation is a great product and so therefore we created another version of it but with different pets in mind. We took advice from our friends in ratcritter nation, chinchilla and other small animal clubs and as a result we would like to present the critter nation. The design of critter nation critter nation has many of the same benefits as they ferret nation but critter nation has slightly closer mesh. The reason it has closer mesh is to prevent the smaller animals from escaping.

I had to hammer them with a rubber mallet to carefully straighten the pegs and make sure the parts where snug and aligned. The box says you need no tools. The box is stapled together and you need to use a screw driver to pry these things apart. The Phillips head that comes with the kit is lame, you will want to use a real screw driver, but the included tool does work. Getting the box pried open will require leverage.

I also love that it is a very BIG cage and we never have needed to upgrade to a bigger cage when we got an additional pet or needed to use it for a larger animal like a Chinchilla. I just set the tray meant for the bottom of the cage on top of the cage, and store things there instead. If you have the Critter Nation two levels , the ramp going between levels can lock up against the cage, shutting off access to the other level. We liked it so much we bought the add on. If a ferret falls from that top tier and hits the bottom of the cage, it could potentially be fatal.
