Dakota grill and bar
Historically I would think of a cheap restaurant in a budget hotel, dakota grill and bar, but with the increase of boutique and luxury hotels across the city has come some of the best restaurants housed within them. One of the most recent additions to dakota grill and bar hotel and restaurant scene in Manchester is Dakota Hotel and Restaurant. I recently paid a visit to Dakota Bar and Grill to check out their food offering. Before I went along I obviously checked it out on Instagram.
I emailed the restaurant after booking a table online to ask! From looking at the menu I guessed it would be the steak options, and I was right. It has a retractable roof, which was closed on the rainy day we visited. I have a virgin mojito and my friend ordered a virgin pornstar martini, which came complete with a non-alcoholic shot! We double-checked with the server when ordering to make sure we got a halal option. They do serve non-halal meat here so always worth checking. The food was good!

Dakota Grill Manchester is the work of former Malmaison owner, Ken McCollough and it is as dark-hued and handsome as the successful boutique hotel chain. Will sparks fly? The focus at Dakota is on steaks which are very good — all grass-fed, 35 day-aged and cooked over hot coals. The puddings are excellent and showcase seasonal flavours, such as pear tart and chestnut cassis mille feuille in autumn. There is a heated, weather-proof outdoor terrace too, with its own lighter menu of bowls, small plates, caviar and cocktails. Brunch is served here every day. Sparks are certainly flying behind the bar with some very good cocktails. Every hotel bar needs an excellent cocktail list after all no-one heads to a cocktail bar to drink pints of Stella. Dakota more than obliges with classics and contemporary options as well as an excellent collection of whiskies for a post-prandial snifter, and even a dedicated Cigar Room the ultimate after-dinner wind-down. Dakota Grill offers private dining in various super-luxe settings, including the semi-private Champagne Room with its beautiful marble tables.

The Dakota Grill is a luxurious brasserie and bar housed within the Dakota Manchester boutique hotel. As well as offering a menu of seasonal food and drink in decadent surroundings, it also features the plush Cigar Garden and a private Champagne Room. Expect to feast on 35 day-aged steak, fresh seafood and seasonal dishes in opulent leather booths, accompanied by a menu of classic cocktails. Star dishes include lamb rump with sweetbread, basil and goats cheese, lemon sole with brown shrimp, capers and samphire and prime cuts of British beef. Like organ transplants and lion taming, cooking steak is something best left to the professionals.
Great place with amazing food. Super clean and fun environment!! Staff was a joy to interact with. We had steaks that were cooked to perfection with such flavor. Also had an eggplant parmesan stuffed with fresh spinach and ricotta cheese which was hat off amazing! Our waitress even put the homemade whip cream in a small container with my dessert which was a lemon blueberry cheese cake. So moist and yummy.

We were already excited about the cute congratulations plate, so I was in my element when we were presented with two additional, pre-meal courses; an amuse bouche as well as their Venetian Dip.
