During the midth century it became a major manufacturing and commercial area, and eventually an incorporated satellite city of the expanding Greater Melbourne conurbation. A business district, the former town centre , covers much of its area and is one of the largest in Greater Melbourne. It is currently undergoing major transit-oriented urban renewal , which was first planned in the Melbourne strategy.

Bought in Dandenong North a year ago and love my decision. Dandenong North is quite different than Dandenong and Springvale where occasional crime may occur , as it is more of a residential suburb rather than commerical. You wont find any junkies and commission housing here, just friendly and smiling people. There are some good schools like Silverton Primary which was chosen 1 in Victoria under a cetain category - as per myschool website , Elizabeth Primary. With Melbourne boundary extending upto Pakenham and Cranbourne, Dandenong North feels like in the centre. You can goto Ringwood, Frankston, Berwick within minutes. Just be careful living near Heatherton Rd as there are some troublemakers there, you cannot go wrong if you live in the northenmost parts of Dandy North.

I agree with some comments made here, that Dandenong will see a major boost in property prices over the next couple of years, once the today hesitant investors begin to realise that this is still bargain land compared to the rest of Melbourne, yet with infrastructure and employment opportunities not easily found elsewhere.
