The Tournament of Power Begins at Last! The reason for this tournament was essentially for Grand Zeno to cull out the weaker universes and keep only the worthy ones. As we know, at the end our very own Universe 7 came out on top, where the Z-Fighters had to shatter their limits and work even harder to defeat the most powerful characters that we had seen up to that point, with Goku unlocking Ultra Instinct and Vegeta unlocking his Ascended Super Saiyan Blue form as well as unexpected teamwork from some teammates. Now in the manga, a lot of time has passed since then and newer and even more powerful characters have shown up in the main story in Universe 7, causing Goku and friends to climb to even greater heights of strength. This has probably caused the overall mortal level of Universe 7 to increase even more as characters are at unfathomable levels of powe r, even compared to those that came before. If the Grand Zeno's ever get bored again or if there is another unforeseen turn of events that requires there to be another Tournament of Power, let's see how Universe 7 will fare if there is a second tournament.

The strongest warriors from eight out of the twelve Universes are participating, and any team who loses in this tournament will have their universe erased from existence. According to the Grand Minister , the true motive behind the organization of the tournament is that Zeno believes there are too many universes to watch over and wants to erase the primitive ones for not showing improvement. After enjoying the tournament for its entertainment value and the spectacle of the participating fighters, Zeno determined that a larger competition involving all of the Universes would prove even more entertaining. Later, after meeting the Future Zeno , Zeno had more or less forgotten about the tournament until reminded by an eager Goku. Having not seen the original martial arts competition, the Future Zeno was uncertain of the idea, leading to the need for the Zeno Expo , a smaller demonstration of a fighting competition.

Vegeta, knocking back Nigrissi and Obni, notices Goku's struggle and arrives to assist him, asking him why he is wasting his time with the trio, referring to them as "puppies" and "mutts". Frost and Frieza engage in a secret conversation, agreeing to work with each other.
