Sweet Dee was definitely considered a loser in high school thanks in part to her back brace she had to wear back then. Sweet Dee failed out of U Penn, where she studied psychology. Now, she's mostly a failed actress and stuck as a bartender with her brother and his friends. Dennis: It's because of those bison fingers. Dee: I do not have bison fingers! Frank: Yeah you do. Your mother had to have a c-section because of those hands. Dee: Who slams a door? Frank: Babies. Dennis: That guy has some real growing up to do.
Charlie: I'll totally pull a Good Will Hunting on those kids and that'll put them in their place.
While she was originally supposed to be the voice of reason, she soon became just as narcissistic and terrible as the rest of the Gang and sometimes more so. However, for all of the times that the audience is invited to condemn her, there are also a few moments when the series invites a feeling of pity for this strange, bird-like woman. In what has to be one of the finest episodes of the show, Frank, Mac, and Charlie somehow manage to convince Dee that she has become a comedy star. They even go so far as to construct an elaborate deception to make sure that she falls for it hook, line, and sinker. Unfortunately, the toxic nature of their relationship means that Dee goes so far as to get the Waitress drunk, even though she knows full well that the other woman has a drinking problem. For some reason, Dee seems to think that it's a good idea to own a car in a big city like Philadelphia. Dee is one of those people who just seems blissfully unaware of how awful she is.
Before Dee 's baby arrives, The Gang tries to figure out who is the father by throwing a house party for all her former flings. Charlie and Frank walk into Paddy's and dump what appears to be a filthy pile of mail on the bar, in front of Dennis and Mac , who are immediately repulsed by its smell. Charlie and Frank announced that it's Paddy's mail, which they found in the sewer. The obvious follow up question of how the mail got in the sewer is answered when Dee announces she's been throwing the mail in the sewer because no one ever opens it. The other obvious question is what exactly Frank and Charlie were doing in the sewer. They say they go down there "because you can find lots of stuff down there", and they stay clean by taking their clothes off. Dennis and Mac are so fascinated by their story of Charlie and Frank rooting around the sewer naked that they ignore Dee's attempt to get their attention at first, until she finally tells them that she has broken her water : her baby is on its way. The gang takes Dee to the hospital, but as soon as she gets there, she tells the guys that they can go, and refuses to answer questions about who the father is. They offer to go "get the guy" for her, but again she refuses their help and asks them to just leave. Frank, Mac, and Charlie are fine with this, but Dennis points out that if there is no dad in the picture, the brunt of the responsibility for raising the child will fall on them, because "Dee is the most irresponsible person on the planet.

She was the token female and a soft voice of reason that no one listened to. Meanwhile, the Range Rover sends Dee head-first into a downward mental spiral that turns her into Dennis. So, it was only fitting that the episode ended with the Gang singing carols in the streets of Philly, getting rejected by the residents who just want to get some sleep, and continuing to sing them anyway, just to spite them. But before she realizes this, she gets furious at the driver for bumping into her car. Since the guys are all knocking back beers, Dee is the only one who can drive. She wants to drink with them, so she picks up a teenage hitchhiker and gets him to drive instead. As Dee imagines going into witness protection undercover as a British butler, she goes on to become a sitcom star and later a movie star married to Josh Groban. The production team somehow got Groban himself to come in for a guest spot and declare that he does, in fact, like his ladies to pop.
