It takes a lot for a band to keep its identity and fanbase with a new member. After making a name for themselves with longtime singer Charlotte Wessels, veteran Dutch symphonic metal band Delain officially welcomed new vocalist Diana Leah into the band in Prior to Delain, Leah had not established herself in another band or as a known solo singer. She reached out via social media to the band, who had already checked out her YouTube channel. Eventually they offered her the coveted job. Delain will embark on a North American tour in support of Dark Waters in September, with tickets available here. I started listening to bands like Evanescence and Linkin Park, because those bands were big at the time, and then artists like Avril Lavigne. I had that phase in my life when I was into disco rock music, and I started singing at that time, as well. I was just exploring whatever my voice could do. I thought, wow, if I can sing, maybe I can do this one day. And, if I learned how to do it properly, I could learn how to not hurt my voice and keep longevity in my voice. Menu Consequence. Let's jump in, shall we? I heard it on MTV while my mom was cleaning the house or cooking — she would always put MTV on while she was doing things around the house. I would have been dancing around to that, aged three. The s was a fun time; I miss those years. The message behind the song really resonated with me. Ice Queen was the song that helped me discover those bands, so when I first got to see Within Temptation that was the track that truly got stuck in my head. I found myself singing it for months afterwards. That chorus is iconic — I was hooked, and after that it was easier for me to relate to the intensity of the metal genre.

So a couple of days later I received an e-mail from Martijn [ Westerholt , DELAIN keyboardist, founder and main songwriter], and we talked a bit about how I could audition and he sent me some material that I could sing on.
