The story begins two weeks before Christmas and the protagonist Greg Heffley is looking at a game console in a toy catalogue that he desperately wants for Christmas. So Greg vows to be good until the big day to ensure he gets his present and his mother reinforces this by telling him to be good because Santa is watching. She then takes out a creepy Elf on the Shelf wannabe that she had as a child and warns her three children that the elf will be watching their behaviour and reporting back to Santa. According to Disney Plus, the movie is aimed at children aged six and over, but if you want to keep the magic alive this year it might be better to skip it. Or at least give it a watch first so you can decide if it will ruin the magic or not.
