Dimension door 5e
Dimension door was a conjuration or alteration spell that unerringly teleported the caster and possibly other objects or creatures to a nearby location. For example, dimension door 5e the bough of that tree", dimension door 5e, "back to the entrance of this mansion", or "downward ft at a degree laravel carbon to the south" were sufficient. The earliest versions of this spell had a minimum range of ft m that could be extended by casters of higher levels. There was also a weight limit to how much living or non-living matter the caster could take along.

Sell me on Dimension Door I've seen this spell is quite highly rated around in this forum, but I honestly can't think why it would be a good 4th level pick over others like Greater Invisibility, Polymorph, Wall of Fire. It isn't much of a combat spell, seeing as it's an action and not a bonus action. It's good for running away, sure, but that's quite a niche use. I guess it's good for infiltration as well. What uses can you think of for this spell? Why is it a good pick particularly for a Sorcerer with a limited spell list , and how much success did you have with it? Last edited by bendking; at PM. Re: Sell me on Dimension Door Being able to teleport moderate distances is such a problem solver.
I would argue its at its best when you're a slightly higher level.
Range long ft. You instantly transfer yourself from your current location to any other spot within range. You always arrive at exactly the spot desired — whether by simply visualizing the area or by stating direction. You may also bring one additional willing Medium or smaller creature carrying gear or objects up to its maximum load or its equivalent per three caster levels. A Large creature counts as two Medium creatures, a Huge creature counts as two Large creatures, and so forth. All creatures to be transported must be in contact with one another, and at least one of those creatures must be in contact with you. If you arrive in a place that is already occupied by a solid body, you and each creature traveling with you take 1d6 points of damage and are shunted to a random open space on a suitable surface within feet of the intended location.
You teleport yourself from your current location to any other spot within range. You arrive at exactly the spot desired. It can be a place you can see, one you can visualize, or one you can describe by stating distance and direction, such as " feet straight downward" or "upward to the northwest at a degree angle, feet". You can also bring one willing creature of your size or smaller who is carrying gear up to its carrying capacity. The creature must be within 5 feet of you when you cast this spell.

Teleporting four party members into combat for a surprise attack is sooooo much fun! Stuff everyone into a bag of holding, dimension door in, let them all out. Teleport away. To some recent examples After the Spellplague, this spell was available to less experienced wizards but could not transport anyone except the caster and had a range of 50 ft 15 m. But as we've agreed, sometimes the real power was the friends we made along the way, including the DM. If the chosen destination was occupied by something solid, various bad things could happen to the caster, all he or she was carrying, and any passengers. If there is no free space within 1, feet, you and each creature traveling with you take an additional 4d6 points of damage and the spell simply fails. The spell also works well with high carrying capacities as well as a Brooch of Shielding. Tweets by RichBurlew.
