Epiphone lucille review
After it was initially teased way back in February earlier this year, and after Gibson announced it was headed for an October release date, Epiphone has finally unveiled the much-awaited B. King Lucille electric guitar. As per our initial speculation, a cursory glance at the spec sheet reveals a number of expected features. Build-wise, the ESshaped Lucille boasts a five-ply layered maple body with spruce binding and a maple center block, and makes use of multi-ply top, back and headstock binding. King-engraved truss rod cover and Grover Rotomatic tuners with Keystone buttons. The hardware department also includes a two-way adjustable truss rod, five-ply bound tortoise pickguard, black mounting rings, a 1. On the subject of pickups, the Lucille comes equipped with two Alnico Classic Pro humbuckers, which are wired to a six-position Varitone switch and a three-way toggle switch. Other controls include two volume and two tone CTS Potentiometer knobs. The control layout is treated to a cream switch tip, gold Varitone switchwasher and black control covers. Head over to Epiphone to find out more.

Of course i'll give one or more Lucy's a good workout at my favorite axe shop before I buy, but i'd like some feedback before then. I was thinking Lucille myself, but I'm afraid that the beefy neck may not be to my liking. I'm not going forward with that idea without actually playing one first. I play so many different neck shapes, that except for a SLIGHT dislike for "super thin" necks, it really doesn't matter that much. Actually, a '59 LP neck is about my speed, I like 'em a lil thick and chunky.
Emily Wolfe recently took to Instagram for a livestream performance, during which she showed off her new Epiphone Sheraton Stealth Signature electric guitar and revealed a new BB King Lucille model. The all-new Epiphone Lucille looks to be sporting much of the hardware you'd expect from a BB King signature, namely the Varitone switch, TP6 tailpiece with fine tuners and a sleek ebony finish. The new model also seems to ditch the Epiphone logo-embossed pickguard of previous iterations in favor of a standard black pickguard, and features the updated Epiphone headstock. Of course, the Lucille scrawl adorns the headstock, as does a gold truss rod cover that reads "BB King". While we weren't given much else in the way of specifics, Wolfe did take the new guitar for a spin, showing off its impressive dynamic range and versatility before teasing us that the Epiphone Lucille will be coming out this fall. On her decision to opt for diamond f-holes, Wole cited inspiration from the Trini Lopez and Dave Grohl models, as well as favoring the different resonance offered by the diamonds.

In the past I tried a Gibson. Though taking that maple neck in hand, the rounded C profile is a sure tell that this is all about fretting hand comfort. Install the app. Replies 16 Views 1K. Build-wise, the ESshaped Lucille boasts a five-ply layered maple body with spruce binding and a maple center block, and makes use of multi-ply top, back and headstock binding. As CB said above, the tone really thins out once you get above those two positions, but that aside, the range of sounds this box can produce are stunning. Guitar Techniques. I use a 12 year old analogic Ibanez tuner, and I've no sense differences to finish the tunning with the head or bridge devices. Thanks for the comments. King signed Lucille , is the best sounding and best looking semi-hollow body guitar. It has a TP-6 tremolo piece. Is the Lucille a slimline, don't know much about it Thanks Charly, I'll try your method.
