A couple of nights ago I completed watching Ergo Proxy so my feelings are still achingly fresh. I started this series with high hopes based off positive reviews and a number of recommendations that were given. Initially, the reviews seemed to be correct and I felt I had made a good choice in choosing to watch the show. If you have read my earlier posting when I started watching the show, you could see that I was enjoying it. The heavy philosophical tone was a compelling reason for me but as the series progressed it got lost with unnecessary episodes that even after further thought really showed no purpose.

Inspector Re-L Mayer is assigned to investigate, discovering a more complicated plot behind it that involves a humanoid species known as "Proxy" who are the subject of secret government experiments. The series, which is heavily influenced by philosophy and Gnosticism , features a combination of 2D digital cel animation , 3D computer modeling , and digital special effects. The show was also distributed to Australian, British and Canadian anime markets. Since its release, Ergo Proxy has received mostly favorable reviews which praised its visuals and themes. The series is set in a post-apocalyptic , dystopian future.

The Japanese cyberpunk anime television series sets in a post-apocalyptic utopian future where human beings and humanoids coincide in euphony within the domed city of Romdeau. When the humans leave, they create Proxies to look after the place while they are out. Ergo Proxy is one of the Proxies, the proxy of Romdeau. The proxies are highly infectious to sunlight and if the Earth rehabilitates again they will completely be wiped out. On this account, Ergo Proxy finds out the truth about the Proxies and how they are destined to die once the humans return. His initiative is to destroy humanity so that the Earth remains uninhabitable. With the help of the proxy of the Mosk Monad Proxy, he erases the memories of the other Proxies and the memory of his own. After the annihilation of Mosk, he travels as an immigrant who tries to achieve citizenship in Romdeau. In the meantime, Monad gets captured and is experimented on by the Scientists of Romdeau which mutilated her body severely.

I think that was the entire idea of the anime series to keep us wondering so much. Re-L is frustrated and bored with the society she lives in. Vincent Law is what makes Ergo Proxy as interesting as was the point, of course. At last she manages to corner Vincent who turns into Ergo Proxy and kills her, not remembering who she is. Monad knows Ergo has probably decided to carry out his mission and he might do horrible things to the creators. What happened in the bottom of the lake is unknown. The creators original humans made the proxies as gods to make domes and help repopulate the planet, the domes also served some ecological factors in rebuilding the atmosphere, though I forget how. The last two episodes came off rushed and left so many plot holes and not in a good way.
