Account Options Ieiet. Abnormal Child Psychology. Eric J. Mash , David A. In this current and scholarly text, authors Eric Mash and David Wolfe achieve a balance between developmental, clinical-diagnostic, and experimental approaches to child and adolescent psychopathology. The book traces the developmental course of each disorder and shows how biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors interact with the child's environment. First-person accounts and cases enrich the reader's understanding of what children and adolescents with disorders experience, emphasizing the strengths of individual children. Case materials are integrated throughout each chapter to help students understand the chapter's key topics. Engaging "first-person" accounts frequently introduce the chapters and reflect the authors' clinical experience. In every disorder chapter, the authors present an overview of the most empirically supported approaches to intervention.

How do parents' beliefs, feelings, and behaviors relate to their children's abnormal development? My research interests are in the areas of child and family mental health and wellness, child and developmental psychopathology, and child and family evidence-based assessment and treatment. Our studies have focused on interactional patterns of disturbed and normal children and their families. Through the use of multi-method assessment strategies, we have attempted to identify the various cognitive, emotional, and attitudinal factors that influence parenting, child behavior and development, and family relationships. Recent studies focus on early development in families at risk for ADHD. Since completing my postdoctoral studies in clinical child psychology I have been a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology and in the Clinical Program at the University of Calgary. I am a Fellow of the Canadian and American Psychological Association and have served as an editor, editorial board member, and editorial consultant for numerous scientific and professional journals.
