Ethan winters face

The new story campaign starring Ethan's daughter Rose, included in the recently released Winters' Expansion , brings a definitive end to the family's terrifying saga by showing Rose move on from her traumatic past. Unfortunately, the series' dedication to hiding Ethan's face makes Shadows of Rose fall a bit flat. The adventure takes players through a warped version of the European village from the main campaign, with Rose confronting twisted memories like an evil version of The Duke and a bloodthirsty mannequin resembling her mother Mia. Rose is aided throughout the expansion by a "guardian angel" referred to as Michael, but this ethereal being is soon revealed to be the conscious remains of her deceased father Ethan Winters. Rose eventually battles the shadowy remnants of the Resident Evil Village villain Mother Miranda , but Ethan manages to take physical form and help his daughter escape the nightmare. While having Ethan appear in Shadows of Rose helps bookend the Winters family story, the fact that Ethan must remain faceless throughout the Resident Evil Village expansion really dampens the impact of his presence. This helps immerse players in the survival horror experience, helping create what is arguably the scariest game in the entire franchise. The same applies to Resident Evil Village , where Ethan is once again faceless despite the title's more action-oriented gameplay. Even in the Winters' Expansion's new Resident Evil Village third-person mode players are never able to get a good look at Ethan's face. Rather than finally revealing Ethan's face for the emotional climax of Shadows of Rose , the DLC goes to needlessly comical lengths to continue hiding his appearance. In cutscenes Ethan is only seen from behind or from the mouth down, preventing any meaningful connection between the player and the heroic father figure.

However, ethan winters face, the Mold in the Baker residence had managed to revive him and mutated him as well, thus giving him the same inhuman regenerative abilities as Mia and the Bakers. He's probably Master Chief.

Ethan was always a bit of a cypher - an everyman character that the player could insert themselves into. Capcom realized how much attention FaceGate was getting too, because it's doubled- and tripled-down on hiding it since then. The company has become so committed to the bit that it allowed it to ruin its newest game, Shadows of Rose. After reviewing the subpar expansion and seeing just how far Capcom is willing to take this no-face thing, I just have to wonder, what was even the point? I understand, to some degree, wanting to play a little cat and mouse game with your audience. At first the back-and-forth was fun to watch. The official third-person mode for Village has Ethan look away when you try to turn the camera towards his face, which is a cute touch.

Capcom shook things up with RE7 marking the franchise's transition from its trademark third-person experience to a first-person POV. Although fans were hesitant, RE7 became the best-selling game in the series , proving the survival horror franchise was due for a little change. When Ethan was introduced in RE7 , the game took great lengths to conceal his face. Considering the first-person perspective, it's likely Capcom wanted to amp up the immersive experience, encouraging players to become Ethan, not just see him. However, that didn't stop modders from uncovering his character model not long after the game's debut. His wife, Mia Winters, sent him a video in detailing her new babysitting gig, the last contact he has with her before she goes missing.

Ethan Winters was first introduced in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard , and he'll be returning in the eighth mainline entry, Resident Evil Village. In RE7 , Ethan's face was always hidden - and Capcom has gone to great lengths to conceal his face. This has led many fans to question whether or not Ethan Winters' face will finally be shown in Resident Evil 8. Although Ethan Winters was the main protagonist of Resident Evil 7 , very little was revealed about his backstory prior to the game. His face is never shown, and a lot of Ethan's actions including a decision that results in RE7 's multiple endings , is left up to players. Resident Evil 8 will surely reveal a bit more about Ethan, but that doesn't necessarily mean players will get to see his face in the upcoming game. Ethan Winters is more of a blank slate character, which means players are supposed to feel like they're him. So, by keeping Ethan's personality and face a secret, players are supposed to feel more connected to the character and more immersed in the game. Players are supposed to feel like they actually are Ethan Winters , and showing his face could ruin that.
