As you would expect, there is a section dedicated to the DPF but the Gasoline Particulate filter is not mentioned anywhere. Deceleration increases the amount of oxygen following through the engine and exhaust system. This in turn raises the temperature of the GPF to around c — c, igniting the soot contained within the filter. In conditions where this is not possible, the vehicles engine management systems alter timing causing it to run lean. We understand that in some vehicles the GPF filter is located further down the exhaust system than others. We were lucky enough to find the following image supplied in a forum post of the fordownersclub. Drive at varied range of conditions including highway conditions for 20 minutes or until the message disappears. Until we have any further information we can only suggest that a blast up your local dual carriageway while focusing on periods of throttle off deceleration from high revs. This, in turn, raises the temperature of the GPF to around c — c. Everything was running fine so I just let it do its thing.
I keep having a message on my screen Exhaust filter full. Is this urgent? I can't get to the Ford garage for a few days. Is there a way of getting rid of the message? Taking it for a longish drive, focusing on over-run accelerating too much and then letting off throttle seems to be the best way to help regen a GPF. Not the same process as a DPF on a diesel.
By arcasul02, November 27, in Ford Focus Club. Hi, I have this message on the dashboard "Exhaust filter at limit, drive to clean", on my car Ford Focus ST-Line , petrol, I searched online and it said that if I drive for minutes, should be gone, which it did, but the problem is that after a week popped out again. And I noticed that appears on the dashboard when I drive uphill, and after a few minutes is gone. Also, I need to drive with a rev counter, and that's affecting my fuel consumption. Any advice you could give would be much appreciated.

As I am about to cross the Rockies at 65 mph the warning light for the "diesel exhaust filter overloaded, drive to clean" comes on. Then shortly after that a second message, "diesel exhaust filter at capacity, service now" lights up with both the engine light and the wrench light come on. On the way home of towing the "drive to clean" warning comes back on, and then the "service now" message reappears. I was able to reset the error with my code reader and get it back to the "Drive to clean" message and would actually attempt to clean then fail again.

Ford fiesta diesel DPF problem. You're saying you've had the vehicle for 30k miles and this is the first time you've seen the message? I'm also confused, I thought you got this message every time a regen took place. Made an appointment, they did a regeneration but 3 days later it appeared again. I am frustrated now, there should be some permanent solution of this issue rather than giving the workaround, right? Followers 5. Likes: 1. I have a Ford Focus 1. I sold a diesel car because I didn't want the worry of a DPF being clogged and now I have to put up with this. The longest route was a 43 miles freeway ride before the message related. I did speak to the dealership and they said this was how it worked..

Today I contacted the dealership who sold it to me. Intermittent Wiper problem. With this message coming up. If that fails they are saying they are at a loss and suggest I speak to Ford. Towing or not, if a regen starts just before getting to your driveway, it will try to regen as soon as the engine is warm enough and if that does get anywhere because you just ran out to get a jug of milk.
