The F1 results are in from what was an Italian Grand Prix that eventually burst into life after something of a false start at Monza on Sunday. Carlos Sainz led away from the start, carving across the track to cut off Max Verstappen into the first braking zone to hold onto the lead after taking his first pole position of the season. But on lap 15, after a staunch defence, Sainz locked up and offered Verstappen a run at him through Curva Grande, putting him alongside and eventually ahead of the Ferrari driver for the lead. And Verstappen was very quickly able to stretch his legs and open up a healthy lead over the Ferrari duo, with Sergio Perez closing in from behind after a daring move on George Russell in what was becoming a heated battle over the podium positions. Perez and Leclerc got extremely close together into the Variante della Roggia as they fought over P3, before the Mexican was able to get ahead a lap later and into the podium places.
