F150 lead frame
Thread Tools. Likes: 1. Received 3 Likes on 2 Posts. I have a f 3. Twice in one month it got stuck in 5th gear and the check engine light came on. The code read output shaft sensor, and online reading said to replace the lead frame. Got a new lead frame from the dealer and replaced it relatively easily. However, after putting it back together, the truck will not read what gear it is in. I have everything lined up and in the correct position where the shifting lever meets the lead frame. The truck shows it is in Park on the dash, but it will not indicate any other gears when I shift it and the wrench icon shows up. It will crank for a second then the park light will flash like there is some sort of error and it will quit cranking. I sprayed the pigtail plug with electronic parts cleaner and plugged it directly into the lead frame without putting in the circular plastic adapter that makes you screw the pigtail in. This way I know the connection is solid because initially that adapter was hindering a full connection between the lead frame and pigtail plug and not even the park gear was coming up.
Got my letter the other day. It may not display this or other websites correctly. A bit problematic because I don't have a DTC showing.
The lead frame of the Ford F is an often overlooked but integral part of its function. Tracing its roots back in the 6R80 Mechatronic assembly, the latest 6R80 lead frame houses several electrical components necessary for the proper functioning of its transmission system. From to , Ford revamped some of its models, starting with the F, to the 6R80 lead frame. The ensuing update didn't go smoothly as planned though as it still retained some of the problems present in the 6R80 Mechatronic while creating new issues in the succeeding 6R80 lead frame. These are exactly what we will explore in this article. If you own an F produced before , the 6R80 Mechatronic works as an electrically conductive interface between the transmission control module TCM and solenoids in the valve body. The TCM essentially acts like a conductor, sending electrical signals from the onboard computer to the appropriate solenoid when necessary, based on data collected from various sensors in different sections of the vehicle.

In April , Ford issued a recall for over , vehicles including the F with the 6R80 transmission. The recall was described very commonly and generally but you could understand from the notice that Ford is concerned with the speed sensor output the sensor in the lead frame, in your transmission. Also, Ford was going to make some software updates to avoid this problem in the future. The recall was motivated by quite a lot of issues with the transmission downshifting and then staying in that gear without shifting higher.
