Scavenger stations are one of the more interesting jobs you can assign to a Settler in Fallout 4, and many people will wonder how it works. Settlers who are assigned as Scavengers will regularly deposit random items into the Workshop inventory, which can be used for your own crafting. In order for the scavenging station to function, you must assign a Settler to it by selecting one with the confirm button then clicking the station - you now have a scavenger. What do Scavenging Stations Do? Settlers who have not been assigned to anything will occasionally do exactly what a Scavenger does, so you do not require Scavenger stations, but it's wise to do so because Scavengers produce more random junk and, as Poppy notes below, Settlers who aren't assigned cause a Settlement's happines to drop. It makes sense that Settlers who aren't assigned will deposit less than a Settler with a dedicated scavenging station.
Fallout 4 scavenging station
A scavenging station is a constructible settlement item featured in Fallout 4. All unemployed settlers will collect one random junk item per day, which is automatically added to the workshop inventory. A settler assigned to a scavenging station will instead collect two random junk items per day. To assign a settler to the station, enter workshop mode, select the settler, target the station, and press assign. One can verify the assignment in workshop mode by highlighting the station and checking that the settler icon changed from red to the current UI color. One should see a crow icon while highlighting the settler and, if both the settler and station are within line-of-sight, the station they are assigned to will also be highlighted. While the player character is at a settlement , assigned settlers will periodically interact with their station by using a blowtorch on it. Unlike workers assigned to crops and defenses, settlers will not work multiple scavenging stations even if they are placed in proximity. The scavenging station can be damaged during an attack on a settlement, but unlike most other settlement objects, it doesn't display any visible damage clues. To determine whether a scavenging station is damaged or not, it must be viewed while in the workshop interface. If damaged, the option to repair it will appear, which requires one steel and one wood.

Fallout 4 scavenging station
The scavenging station is a settlement item in Fallout 4. Scavenging Stations produce junk items when constructed in a settlement. Any unemployed settlers will add a single junk item per day to the workshop regardless of whether or not there is a scavenging station present in the settlement; building a station and assigning settlers to it will let them produce two junk items per day instead. Scavenging production is affected by settlement happiness much like every other resource. After there are junk items plus five additional items per settler, settlement stations will no longer produce junk. The Vault - Fallout Wiki. The Vault - Fallout Wiki Explore. This is really time consuming and tedious, but I get so confused by all of the settlements I have and the amount of game time passing that I forget which ones have been emptied and which haven't.
