There was a time when glow and gas RC airplanes enjoyed greater speed and power when compared to their electric counterparts. RC flying clubs have never turned away pilots who prefer electric models, but there is a certain feeling of superiority in terms of being able to fly faster and more aggressively with glow and gas models. Ever since the drone revolution started circa , we have seen considerable advances in RC airplane technology, and modern electric brushless motors have largely displaced the nitro and gas-powered airplanes of yore. Speed is something that all RC pilots crave, and this applies to all categories from cars to trucks and from boats to airplanes. Speed can be a problem for beginner nitro and gas RC pilots, but this is not the case with electric RC airplanes thanks to new technology that prevents crashes and makes it easier to control model aircraft. The following are five of the fastest electric RC planes we have:.

Reviewed in the March edition of Model Aviation , this hand-launched, EPO foam-composition model was capable of achieving triple-digit speeds using modestly sized three- and four-cell LiPo batteries. The challenger, with a 1, mm wingspan and virtually identical aesthetics, was touted as being capable of mph right out of the box! It was fittingly introduced as the V It added inboard flaps and retractable main landing gear to make the transition into and out of its advertised mph speed as easy as possible for pilots. Additionally, large, solid-gray graphics are applied to the outer halves of the underside of the wing. These serve to streamline the embedded aileron servos and smooth any molding process irregularities. The retractable main gear is equipped with 4 mm diameter sprung steel struts, with narrow, plastic gear doors mounted to the struts to help eliminate drag when the landing gear are tucked up and into the wing. The diameter of the tires on the main gear are roughly 60 mm. As a tail-dragger, the V uses a tiny, almost invisibly recessed, tail wheel that is mounted into the bottom edge of the rudder.
I suspect it could outrun the Slipso fastest rc plane ease, but at 24" it's just too small to keep track of, let alone make clean Doppler passes. Tony K. Can't wait for the day where we hear the sonic boom and watch the airframe shatter!
Sure Turbine Jets seem fast with speeds in the MPH range, but a sailplane with no motor can make that look like it's standing still. If you are not familiar with Dynamic Soaring, go check out the Dynamic Soaring section to learn all about it. It allows RC gliders to achieve mind bending speeds. This is incredible speed and amazing skill that is required to keep up with a RC model flying that fast. Well done Spencer! Check out the video below to see the flight. New World Record!
RC planes have been a popular hobby for many years, and the technology behind them has come a long way since they first appeared on the scene. From gas-powered engines to electric motors and even turbine engines, RC planes come in various designs, shapes, and sizes, producing different levels of speed and performance. However, one thing that sets these remote-controlled planes apart is their capacity to reach incredibly high speeds that can rival actual planes. With the development of technology, hobbyists and enthusiasts have created some incredibly fast RC planes, with the fastest one setting several records in its time. Whether you are an RC plane enthusiast or just intrigued by the idea of a remote-controlled plane flying at supersonic speed, this article is for you.

Radio-controlled RC planes have been a popular hobby for decades, offering enthusiasts the thrill of piloting a miniature aircraft in the sky. Among the many factors that can make RC planes exciting, speed is often a key element. The faster a plane can fly, the more exhilarating the experience can be, as well as the more demanding the skills required to control it. While there are many fast RC planes on the market, some modelers aim to push the limits of what is possible and break records of velocity. The benchmark criteria need to be set up such that potential candidates can be judged against them. There are different ways to measure speed, including average speed , peak speed and top speed. This information is essential to look at the contenders for the fastest RC plane in the world in These planes have been designed and tested to break speed records and offer cutting-edge technology to enhance performance. I was the first one with it. I suspect it could outrun the Slipso with ease, but at 24" it's just too small to keep track of, let alone make clean Doppler passes. Search form Search. BMatthews B for Bruce. Dynamic Soaring. I want a plane - but I've never flown! The first time that I tried and failed to remove the canopy had me checking the assembly manual to see which end of it I should be pulling up on! Thread Tools. Off English. By flying in a continuous loop, first up the side of the hill and then back down again at a farther distance where the wind speeds are slower and create less resistance, an RC glider pilot can not only keep their plane flying indefinitely, they can also slowly build up incredible speeds. Assembly Six fasteners are all that stand between the V going from a few airframe components in a box to a fully assembled and ready-for-flight model. Community Statistics Views : V will never slow down.

My website is www. A quality, properly broken-in, high C-rated battery will work best when it comes to squeezing every last bit of speed out of a high-performance model such as the V Quick Reply. Sure Turbine Jets seem fast with speeds in the MPH range, but a sailplane with no motor can make that look like it's standing still. Because this model can be flown on four-cell, five-cell, or six-cell packs with no need for a propeller change, there is undeniable merit in making maiden flights with a four-cell battery power setup.
