Summer is here, bringing along with it all of the traditional festivals held by towns and villages in Mallorca, full of music, activities and fun for all ages. Today, Zafiro Hotels is going to recommend one in particular: the festival in Can Picafort from the 2nd to the 18th of August to honour the Virgin of the Assumption, or Mare de Deu d'Agost as it is known in Mallorca. The reason? Very simple. Can Picafort is a coastal town in Alcudia Bay which has everything you need for a great holiday, particularly in the middle of August during the two weeks that the town celebrates its patron saint festival. And what is it that makes this festival so special? Well, the secret is in the variety. Thousands of rubber ducks are launched from boats near the shore, all of them with their own number. The objective of participants is to jump into the water and collect as many ducks as they can, as some of them come with a prize! This is a day when everybody has a great laugh, whatever their age. And then the day ends with a brilliant firework display at midnight.
