It is easy to miss these skill checks since there are so few of them, and they are not mandatory, but it is one of the most unique attributes of the ship and quest. The Sole Survivor was either a military veteran or a lawyer depending on their gender; however, a lot of players don't know this because it is rarely ever mentioned in the game. Regardless, the USS Constitution will give the player a chance to learn this information because the robot at the entrance mentions it to the player when they approach it. The robot scans the player, and that is how it determines the Sole Survivor's Pre-War job. However, if the player completes the quest and helps Captain Ironsides, then they will gain access to the Quarters as a sort of player home. Although this semi-player home isn't giant, it's still a nice reward for helping the robots launch the USS Constitution instead of helping the raiders. It may seem as though Captain Ironsides or one of the other robots were the ones that installed the rocket engines on the USS Constitution, but it was actually somebody unnamed. It is strange to theorize about who added the engines since it would seemingly have no value to a human or mutant. It is easy to miss that the robots were not the individuals that installed the engines since that would be the logical conclusion. The Broadsider is a unique weapon that shoots cannonballs at enemies, and it is classified as a heavy weapon. It is considered by most players to be extremely fun to use both because of its aesthetic, and it's high damage output.
