The error message in the pic I have attached keeps showing up now and again, brought it for a few runs on the motorway and for about 3 days straight it didnt come on but it started again today for some reason. Any ideas what it could be? It would be impossible for anyone to say what it is, for instance we had a recent problem on my sons card, engine malfunction message and the traction control light on like you have and it turns out to be faulty injectors. You would need to get a code reader on it and see if there are any codes. There is a specific one that I don't have the link for right now which works with Fords, I am sure someone will be along with a link. Yeah if it keeps coming on I will end up getting the codes.

The check engine light is perhaps one of the most dreaded warning symbols that can illuminate on the dashboard of Ford Focus. In this article, we will delve into the most common causes behind the check engine light. The check engine light illuminates in Ford Focus when the on-board diagnostic system detects a problem with the engine or emissions system. If left unchecked, the issue could cause more serious problems and result in costly repairs. Static CEL: A static check engine light in Focus means that there is a problem with the engine or emissions system, but it is not an urgent issue. The vehicle can typically be driven safely for a short period of time, but it should be taken to a mechanic soon to avoid further damage or increased emissions. Flashing CEL: When the check engine light is flashing in Focus, it indicates that there is a significant problem with the engine that requires immediate attention. The flashing light often indicates a misfire, which can cause damage to the catalytic converter.

The car loses power, but pulling over, turning off the engine and restarting seems to fix it temporarily. The first time we called out the AA, but they said their computer couldn't find a fault. They recommended going to a Ford dealer. A quick google showed people think this is just AA being rubbish. After the second, third and fourth times we went to our local garage well respected by my petrol head friend. They too could not find a fault, and said try a Ford dealer. A quick google implied they should have been able to fix it. After the fifth and sixth times both of which meant stopping on motorway with no hard shoulder, and kids in the car So, do we just take it to a Ford dealer?

I fixed itself when I replaced the two fronts as a pair, typically had a side wall puncture on the good one so replaced them both. Reply to this topic Start new topic. I turned the car off then back on and it's been absolutely perfect ever since this happened about 5 month ago. But I wouldn't have thought Ford would be so stupid as to program it to say Engine Malfunction when it is not the engine. Each ECU is rigorously tested using our bespoke testing rigs. But, yes, i am also a bit sceptical that it was all down to the one low pressure tyre, time will tell. All season tyre recommendation. As Peter said, it's possible it's just shoddy ford programming.
The Ford Focus has proven to be very popular with buyers because it is engineered to be agile, fuel-efficient, and fit for daily drives. Anyway, the Focus is not perfect.

Is the engine still operating normally BTW? It doesn't seem to tie in with any one specific issue unfortunately so in the circumstances, I'd be inclined to take it back to where the brake work was done as they may have inadvertently initiated this. I guess their must have been a size difference between them that was just enough to throw it out somehow.
