Framingham city council
The City Council serves as a link between the citizens of Framingham and their municipal government. Councilors help constituents by connecting them to resources, services, and City departments. They serve as advocates for all Framingham residents. Through their work, city councilors ensure that Framingham continues to be a great place to live, work, and play. The City Council is the sole legislative body of the City and is therefore responsible for passing all City ordinances. The City Council is made up of 11 members who shall exercise the legislative powers of Framingham. Two of these members are known as councilors-at-large and nine members are known as district councilors. Councilors at large serve a four-year term; each district councilor serves a two-year term. All council terms begin on the first day of January in the year following the election. No person shall hold the office of councilor-at-large for more than three consecutive full four four-year terms and no person shall hold the office of district councilor for more than 6 consecutive full two-year terms. The public is invited and encouraged to attend Council meetings. The Memorial Building is handicap accessible. Advocating for a more equitable, affordable, and transparent city. In his professional life, Brandon's career has included stints in government, nonprofits, and higher education. Currently, Brandon serves as the Executive Director of Leadership MetroWest, a Framingham-based nonprofit dedicated to training and supporting community leaders. Previously, Brandon worked at the Harvard Kennedy School's Center for Public Leadership, where he facilitated leadership trainings for graduate students committed to public service and social justice. Leslie White Harvey, currently vice chair of the Framingham Board of Library Trustees , narrowly defeated incumbent District 8 City Councilor John Stefanini, , in one of only a handful of competitive races on the ballot this year. Since moving to Framingham 14 years ago, White Harvey has taken on numerous roles. Besides her current role with the library trustees, she has sat on the board of directors for Downtown Framingham Inc. White Harvey told the Daily News Tuesday night that she's looking forward to working with the community. I'm really thankful for my team and my family I'm very thankful and emotional right now.
