Apologies in advance for the pun, but The coronavirus pandemic is still impacting travel, and destinations around the world have different COVID restrictions in place. Always check and adhere to local government policies as you're planning any future trips. I had this experience when searching for a nonstop flight from New York to Paris. Because I was traveling during spring break, tickets were astronomical, and the most affordable option popping up on Skyscanner. It was a carrier I had never flown with and to be completely honest hadn't heard much about. Cue a lot of internet research.

Europe Chevron. France Chevron. Ile-de-France Chevron. Paris Chevron. A low-cost transatlantic flight that starts with chilled champagne and ends with omelette fromage as the sunrise peaks through the shades? The Paris-based airline offers three ticket options: Basic, the thriftiest choice, which includes one carry-on up to 26 pounds ; Smart, which includes a checked bag up to 50 pounds and an in-flight meal; and Premium, essentially the Smart package with an additional checked bag, tasty meals, free drinks, seat choice, and priority boarding. A solo overnight flight with a toddler seemed like the perfect time to try it. In Premium, the flight attendants were less bubbly than the welcome beverages foreshadowing the style of hospitality one can expect on arrival in Paris. Indeed, boarding began with a bit of turbulence—toddler and Yoyo stroller in tow, one of the flight attendants stopped me in my tracks and asked me to break down the stroller. But a few sweaty and flustered minutes later, we arrived at our seats, which were roomier than in economy and decked out with foot rests, wide arm rests, and cup holders for the aforementioned welcome drinks. Once seated, service was speedy and attentive. As Mimi, cozy in her jammies, tried on the eye mask from her complimentary travel pack which also comes with socks and headphones , I scanned the media selection—a seemingly random collection of movies and TV shows, both oldies and new releases, with timeless gems scattered throughout the grid. One of those gems, Capote featuring the late great Philip Seymour Hoffman, seemed like an ideal way to spend the first two hours of our flight. I understand that some might consider floor-sleeping a questionable parenting decision, but I knew I was arriving in a Paris engulfed by transportation strikes.

The seats were more comfortable than I thought, which was probably the biggest surprise. Security told me that I would have to rebook my flight even though I was on time. Once seated, service was speedy and attentive. They refused to waive the fee. Both trips were an hour late which was hard. I called customer service with French Bee multiple times and didn't get an answer until the next day. We said we were checked in and just needed to drop 2 bags. The plane also ran out of water which is unacceptable for an 11 hour flight. I have contacted my credit card company and am now disputing half of the charge for this flight as they are clearly making it as difficult as possible to get reimbursed! Getting go the gate was a mission unto itself as nothing is listed. The premium cabin even had vanity lights and little minty towelettes.
