Infiniti had a rough start here in Australia, launching with models that had been available for some time overseas. Couple that with high pricing and little to no brand recognition in a market that has a strong preference for established players, and you're going to have a bad time. So after all that, why have I given such a high score to what some have termed a Nissan Z in black tie? And why would I buy this Australian-delivered model when its twin brother, the V36 Skyline GT, can be imported for less? Let's take a closer look. Full disclosure: I didn't buy this car new.

As a driver, I don't think rear-wheel drive serves anyone living in a climate that sees snowfall regularly. As the caretaker of a cello, I don't go for sedans in general, because I hesitate to put the cello by itself way back in the trunk. At this stage, I'm past 5-passenger cars that do less than 30 mpg. Although many tuners and enthusiasts were aghast at this naming convention, the Infiniti G37 was one of the most significant performance sedans to ever roam the streets.
