The art and deck building is interesting and fun to me. It's also a graphic novel, but I haven't checked it out personally, yet. Got any pointers on how to go about devouring the guidebook? I played Gloomhaven for a while. The biggest issue I have with it is the setup, so it's ideal if you have somewhere dedicated you can set it up. As far as learning goes, looking up tutorials on YouTube is a great way to go.

I started up the Jaws of the Lion campaign with 2 Gloom-Newbies, myself and my wife. My wife and I are veteran Gloomhaven players and have been playing a 2-player campaign for the last few years. He found it super annoying to have to chase down his hatchet and would just leave it behind in the previous room. He decided to ditch the standard build for an interesting build that I have become a big fan of. Naw man, if your super squishy Spellweaver wants to pretend to be a tank and actually use some of those defense cards, melee attacks and wear armor, then have fun exploring this sweet game! Just make sure you never throw it at any enemies far away from the next door. Rinse Repeat. If enemies are a little too close for comfort, wound them and jump away. Oh and did I mention this has a 17 initiative? So yea, we take this card, but for the bottom more than the top. Weird right? Every once in a while, my buddy would still play the top during one of those in-between-rooms turns just so he could throw it once against the boss in the next room. Unlike arrows, hatchets also make great melee weapons.

Gloomhaven is, by every definition of the word, a very big game. It is big in its story, a sweeping tale of fantasy both high and gritty of the strangeness and adventure that pour forth from the eponymous township. It is big mechanically, fusing tabletop movement and character sensibilities with a hefty system of card-based combat that draws in elements of magic usage, card synergy, and teamwork with the added layer of hidden personal goals complicating matters. Even the PC adaptation, something of a simplification, has its fair share of aspects to master. With the wild success of the sequel's Kickstarter campaign , it is clear that the game and its worlds are on the path to getting even bigger.

When it comes to board games, Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion clearly stands out as a cooperative tactical combat game set in a unique fantasy world. Among its diverse characters, Hatchet, an Inox adept in ranged combat, captures attention with his specialized skill set. The Hatchet is known for his exceptional ability with throwing axes, a rarity among his race , traditionally recognized for brute strength. The Hatchet character in Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion emerges from the Inox race, known for their physical prowess. However, unlike his kin, the Hatchet has adapted to an urban environment, showcasing a blend of raw strength and tactical acumen. This adaptation is reflected in his primary role as a ranged damage dealer, a skill not commonly associated with the Inox. This post may contain affiliate links to online stores. That being said, having them kill an enemy so that you can use Quick Turnaround and one of your top shots can be really good too. I don't include either of them in my end build so it's not crucial that you pick one over the other. More information. Additionally, the top is a crazy card, particularly in conjunction with Double Throw and The Favorite in short scenarios. The Favorite for hatchet man doesn't appear to work. Not too bad. Oh and did I mention this has a 17 initiative? Some friends and I have played it every Monday for the past year now and it's essentially like playing through an anime, and it's been rather dynamic which is awesome!
Especially when it comes to the early game of Gloomhaven , offense is the best defense. Eliminating enemies swiftly reduces the chance for the AI to inflict massive wounds and debilitating conditions.

The producers are also very helpful and kind for any feedback. Not bad. Just make sure you never throw it at any enemies far away from the next door. The top can be useful too but I wouldn't say it's ideal as the damage is very low and you'll be left next to an enemy. They need to be simple enough to play in any state of mind, games really for bounding.
