Good news, wannabe Upper East Siders: "Gossip Girl" nostalgia is alive and well on Twitter, where the show has inspired a new meme format. Here's how it works. Serena asks her best friend a question in confidence, and then, by rearranging the letters of the show's title, Blair is supposed to give a pithy response in the form of an anagram. Days later, the meme quickly picked up in popularity. The meme's humor is derived partly from the worldplay, and partly from the dynamic between the two characters.

I'm a personal believer that gossip is just information that has been unfairly maligned. Women have been gossiping for centuries. How do you think information was shared pre-internet? Books and newspapers only get you so far. How was the house down the road supposed to know that Jeannie had a baby out of wedlock or that Tom was back on the gin? True, to talk about people behind their backs is not always nice, but it can be at least constructive. And as long as you take every juicy tidbit with a grain of salt, then it's fair game. One of the best ways to exercise your gossip muscle without fear of hurting others is to gossip about people who you don't know. That's why Twitter is so addicting. But these memes are just as delicious as hearing that your favorite celebrity has really funky-smelling feet. Log In. Posted by JR Atkinson. Via 8jr7vProblemDancer.

Gossip Girl memes are breaking the internet and they're so hilarious that it almost feels like it's again. It goes without saying that Gossip Girl is a cultural phenomenon. When the hit teen drama first debuted almost 13 years ago, it was considered so scandalous that The Parents Television Council called it "mind-blowingly inappropriate" and they called on other parents to stop their children from watching it. Kids couldn't get enough of it though and it lasted for six seasons. Not only that but people have now turned Serena Blake Lively , Blair Leighton Meester and the show's logo into a meme that's as iconic as the series. Over the weekend, a meme surfaced online in which someone took a still of Serena with the text "I have to pee", and placed it above a poster of Blair with the Gossip Girl logo rearranged to spell "go piss girl". Now, it's either the funniest thing we've ever seen, or lockdown has sent us all into a collective state of delirum, but the meme went viral and inspired many more.
