This and Gucci Rush are the only two fragrances I have backup bottles of, and that in and of itself is an incredible statement for me. Personally, I disagree. Perhaps the Versace Eros of its day. It was worn by young men then, and can still be worn by young men now. The only obstacle to that is, of course, the price. If you can find a cheap decant, go for it. Brian Buchanan Show all reviews. Envy for Men goes to the opposite extreme of the Spiky Woods. Where they are too aggressive, this is too complaisant; a green, gingery Amber, it's so sweet and eager to please you wonder if there's any character at all behind it's manicured stubble and designer chinos.
It is quite thick from beginning till the end because of the heavy vanilla, patchouli base.

Gucci envy for men
This instant classic featuring opoponax, incense, patchouli, amber, musk, cedar, cardamom, anise, coriander, ginger, nutmeg and pimento is a sweet oriental, quite the opposite of what I had initially expected after testing the very green Envy for Women. Envy was a big disappointment to me when it launched because I had already sniffed Jivago 7 Elements and Obsession for Men, scents which this fragrance respectfully references, in my humble opinion. Envy opens with a sweet, slightly licorice-tinged ginger note, moving to a sweet musk and amber bouquet. Accents of nutmeg, patchouli, and woods appear now and then and the entire composition melts together into a warm, lingering aroma. The longevity and sillage are excellent, likely due to the amber and musk, though there is little development. Envy was to Gucci what Obsession was to Calvin Klein, a powerhouse oriental that put the company on the track to success in the fragrance department. Gucci Envy for Men is widely available at department stores and at the online discounters.

It has a really subtle elegance which may go unnoticed at first. Envy for Men opened up with incense and sandalwood, followed by lavender, ginger, pepper, cardamom and coriander seed. Instead, it is famous among fragrance aficionados for being the scent that brought ginger to designer fragrances for men. Some are discontinued, and some are still in production, but they're all fairly easy to find. Captain Odour Show all reviews. Gucci Eau de Parfum and Gucci Eau de Parfum II reflect a brilliant strategy of letting the blandness of the market serve as a backdrop. If there is any fragrance that captures a perfect modern barbershop smell, it is this one for me. No customer reviews. I'm not a great fan of his eponymous perfume line, but on smelling Gucci Envy for Men, something clicked. It had everything you could want from an oriental for men! I'm not a great fan of his eponymous perfume line, but on smelling Gucci Envy for Men, something clicked. The fragrance that truly deserve it's status as a legend, too bad we can only admire them from empty bottles and stories that keep floating around us solid 4 stars:???? Envy has that old school barber shop vibe to it, but it's modernized with the ginger and a stellar note pyramid. Gucci pour Homme I Michel Almairac, was a thoughtful, beautiful perfume released at a time of big perfume ad campaigns followed by even bigger yawns. I can smell many of the notes in here and what I smell is quality, quality, quality.
Most fragrance heads know that Tom Ford was the Creative Director at Gucci before launching his eponymous brand.
Shifty Bat Show all reviews. The litany of questions that often curtail men actually wearing a perfume are irrelevant. Much better build quality, in my opinion, as it pumps the breaks on the vanilla. Absolutely love this. I wouldn't say this is the best example of the mini-genre it created, nor that the genre itself was very remarkable; but having the clout that the brand Gucci affords obviously didn't hurt it in the least. Beginning was very similar to CdG 2 Man but after that it was simpler and more quiet, a bit dull, and had me thinking of some 70's masculine scents, something cheap retro masculine, which was not good for me. This is one of the rare few in my collection that I appreciate for its Oneness; that it smells the way it smells all the way down and has no off-phase or odd drydown. I would prefer that the ginger note, which is after all this scent's signature, remained more prominent after the first half hour of wear, but Envy for Men is congenial enough without it. You should not use this information as self-diagnosis or for treating a health problem or disease. They all blended very well and as a result giving you a very balanced fragrance. Maybe the nostalgia effect provokes an out of proportion perception about its aromatic features. Where they are too aggressive, this is too complaisant; a green, gingery Amber, it's so sweet and eager to please you wonder if there's any character at all behind it's manicured stubble and designer chinos. The Gucci perfumes of the Ford era were a first rate line of designer perfumes and are a testament to the value of art direction. It lost it's bold creativity and most of all, it's uniqueness in terms of fragrances.
