Hashirama Senju is one of the most powerful characters to ever live in the Naruto universe. He was tremendously powerful and an exceptionally rare ninja, being one of the very few capable of using the fabled Wood Release. Hashirama is also known to have been an exceptionally good user of the Sage Mode. This technique amplified his abilities to a whole different level and he might be one of the very best users of it seen in the entire Naruto series. Sage Mode is a heightened state that only a handful of people in the world of Naruto can access. This ability requires the user to become one with nature itself and understand it completely. Not just anyone can tap into the powers of Sage Mode.

He himself was hailed as the "God of Shinobi" for his unmatched ninja prowess. Hashirama sought peace for the shinobi world, and to that end founded Konohagakure with his clan, his childhood friend and rival: Madara Uchiha and the Uchiha clan. Although he was not able to achieve peace during his lifetime, his legacy and vision for the world would continue to shape the village and the entire shinobi world even after his death. Hashirama and his brothers grew up on the battlefield waging constant war with the Senju's rivals: the Uchiha. During his infrequent downtime, Hashirama met a boy his own age named Madara. The two quickly developed a friendly rivalry, be it skipping stones or urinating in rivers, with Hashirama typically winning their contests. After the deaths of their brothers, Kawarama and later Itama , Hashirama and his remaining brother, Tobirama , decided a new shinobi system would need to be implemented to end the cycle of child deaths, a system that would require an alliance between the Senju and Uchiha. Like Hashirama, Madara was also a shinobi who had lost brothers on the battlefield. Together they imagined a world where children like themselves wouldn't need to fight and where their brothers would be safe from harm. Hashirama set this duty aside, unwilling to take his friend's life. Madara, however, decided their dreams of a peaceful world were impossible, and therefore ended their friendship so that they could kill each other without reservation.

Hashirama is also very considerate and caring as he chose to delay his departure to hashirama battlefield to tell Sasuke the truth he requested, noting that their actions on the battlefield would mean nothing if another Madara would just appear in the world, as well as creating a wood clone to combat Madara, while he hashirama dealing with the Ten-Tails, hashirama. These moping periods were typically brief though, and he'd quickly go back to his usual high-spirited nature, hashirama.

One of the strongest shinobi of his era, he helped end the Warring States Period and founded Konohagakure Village alongside Madara Uchiha. Hashirama was a tall man with tanned skin and dark eyes. He had waist-length black hair typically styled in a center-parted fringe that framed his face. He often wore the standard shinobi dress of his era, consisting of dark red armour worn over a simple black suit with sandals. This armour was constructed from numerous metal plates, formed into multiple protective guards along his body; each collar of his shoulder guards bore the Senju symbol. Prior to Konoha's formation he wore a white-colored cloth bearing his clan's symbol on his forehead, which he later replaced with the village's forehead protector. When acting as Hokage, Hashirama tended to wear the traditional Kage attire consisting of the customary maroon and white hat and haori over a full-length maroon and white gown, along with a simple red headband.

A large part of Hashirama's legacy was his philosophy of the Will of Fire , which became increasingly common amongst Konoha's ninja in the years after his death. Hashirama had a lifelong friendship and rivalry with Madara Uchiha, eventually considering him a brother. Orochimaru releases the Hokage from his control so that they can help in this goal, and they set out for the site of the Allied Shinobi Forces ' battle with the Ten-Tails. As he was about to end his own life, Madara stopped him, moved by the gesture, and assented to peace. But one day… In the future… I dream of a time when all shinobi will cooperate with each other… A time when everyone's hearts will be together regardless of their countries. Hashirama even referred Madara as a "long-time friend" when expressing joyous curiosity about what Madara has been up to all this time, and even greeted Madara with jovial banter rather than with hostility. He is also adept at using barrier ninjutsu, capable of erecting a Kage-calibre barrier powerful enough to trap the Ten-Tails. It was he who first believed that all Konoha shinobi should show true loyalty to each other, and that a Kage must be willing to put his life on the line for his village to set an example for all others.

Hashirama Senju is a legend from the Naruto world who grew up in a war-torn era and ultimately became the man who was named the First Hokage of Konohagakure.

His usual attire consisted of a dark kimono shirt, a short light green jacket with darker green linings, a white scarf around his neck, traditional pinstriped kimono pants of his clan, and a dark green sash around his waist. He approaches Hashirama and absorbs his senjutsu chakra so that he can find targets based on their chakra signatures. Hashirama could never bring himself to kill someone he still considered a friend, and Madara could never defeat Hashirama's superior abilities. This put him in odds with his brother, who was more of a realist and was still wary of the Uchiha, seeing them as a threat to Konoha because of their unpredictable emotional states, despite the fact that Hashirama told his brother to not discriminate against the Uchiha countless times. While it is not known where he learned it, Hashirama proved formidable in its usage, riding about on his wood techniques as a means to be mobile in battle while maintaining the stillness of one's self needed to continue building up natural energy to keep this mode activated. Undoubtedly, Hashirama's Sage Mode made him one of the most overpowered characters in the entire series. Blood type. This natural energy then needs to be absorbed and mixed together with the physical and spiritual energy inside their bodies, and this combination gives rise to senjutsu chakra.
