Since , we have followed a tradition in Scotland for designing and manufacturing natural and sustainable cloth. Our designs are inspired by the landscape and seasons in Scotland, which provide the greatest colour palette for design. Unlike fur and leather, wool is harvested from the animal annually, which means it is a renewable resource. Wool is also biodegradable, breathable and a natural insulator and sound proofer, allowing for air circulation and warmth. The fabric is woven in Scotland and with a rub count of 75, it is a heavy commercial grade tweed which also retains the distinction for domestic use. It is suitable for all upholstery, curtains and fabric walling. The yarn is dyed before weaving, ensuring the vibrancy of the colour in the fabric. The centuries-old textile tradition carries on in these remote islands off the west coast of Scotland. Bending over her year-old, cast iron loom, year-old weaver Miriam Hamilton begins the clickety-clackety process of turning wool yarn into tweed. She learned to weave from a year-old crofter tenant farmer and craftsman in , but she infuses her fabrics with her own energy and palettes. Like many traditional practices born in the countryside of Scotland , tweed draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape and materials from its sheep-filled fields.
