It is surprisingly easy to get to and is fun no matter your age or interests.

The iconic round doors and grass-covered roofs of Hobbitenango are a magical sight. Set high above the town of Antigua, Guatemala it is a must-do for any Middle Earth fans, eco conscious travelers, or nature lovers. Hobbitenango was founded by two Guatemalans, with a passion for comics and eco-friendly structures. The plan is to turn the mountain cloud-oasis into a Hobbit style eco-village. And they are making progress! At present, Hobbitenango also functions as a a small eco-hotel , with three hobbit homes that you can stay in. So, if you do want to experience this unique stay in Guatemala, you will have to book in advance. The on-site restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so even if you are the only one staying at the property, you can get food up until 7 pm. It really is high. With an elevation of 7, feet 2, m above sea level, Hobbitenango literally elevates your experience to the clouds.

Hobbitenango is located in an area called Vuelta Grande, just 20 minutes by car from Antigua, Guatemala. It was founded out of a love for nature, playfulness, and the desire to disconnect from the hectic, busy world and reconnect with what is important in life. Originally meant to be a small eco-village shared between friends, Hobbitenango has been adopted by the locals and worldwide visitors and has grown into an area that can be enjoyed by anyone who wishes to visit. Since , we have built several hobbit-style homes and restaurants, all styled after our favorite fantasy genres and meant to inspire playfulness and wonder in adults and children alike. Currently, we have over 26 areas and attractions to enjoy within the park from our restaurants to our faire games and hotel. Come for the day or stay the night and enjoy the beautiful views over the Panchoy Valley and the surrounding volcanoes. When Hobbitenango opened its round doors in , the only jobs in our area were in agriculture or construction, so many young people moved away looking for better-paying work.

Hobbitenango is also more than just hobbit houses. Though it is a pretty affordable day out, especially compared with the one in New Zealand you can visit. There are several dining options where you can feast on delicious food, one by the main entrance, and the other by the mini golf course.
