When a restaurant is sited in the middle of a shopping plaza parking lot, well, anything is theoretically possible, but who expects very much? That was my hikaru nakamura as a friend and I raced through their entrance, narrowly escaping a summer storm whose cloud vortex looked like the hounds of hell unleashed, hook & reel cajun seafood & bar. I took advantage of one of their many daily specials with a bargain-priced sixteen-ounce glass of Harpoon IPA while my friend ordered a frothy cherry-topped rum punch. And while the menu includes Po Boys and a Pasta special, their heart is in Seafood Boils; various shellfish steamed together with add-ins and spices.

No gluten free menu but I called ahead and spoke with the owner of this franchise who was also there that day he assured me that I can have any of the seafood boils, and the seasonings are gluten free. He also said that they recently changed their soups to be thickened with cornstarch so they are gluten free as well. I informed the host who told the owner and my server of my allergy they then informed the kitchen of my celiac. I had shrimp and snow crab dry boil it was absolutely delicious. Update I ate here again at a later date and had another delicious meal. Our server Olga remembered me from last time and had the owner come to the kitchen to inform the cooks of my celiac. The manager assured me that any seafood boils are gluten free and all of the sauces.

The seafood restaurant sells boils that you can find at other similar places in town. You can choose your proteins, spice level, sauces and more. Sunday — Thursday: am — 10pm Friday — Saturday: am — 11pm. I was invited out to a private soft opening to get a sneak peek for readers and brought my extended family out with me. In full transparency, this soft opening did include discounted rates for all those people in attendance. So instead of giving a full-blown review, I wanted to cover what we had, to give you some visuals on what the dishes look like. Afterwards, our family enjoyed a few appetizers. We had oysters, mozzarella sticks and fried calamari. For our main entrees that were not boils, we had the catfish basket, chicken tender basket, chicken strip basket, and shrimp po boy. Then, of course, we had to try the seafood boils. We tried The Reel Catch boils which came with a mix of snow crab legs, lobster tails, clams, shrimp, mussels and crawfish. Probably the only issue we ran into was the staff getting the P.
