Located on Route 33 just across the Chicopee-South Hadley line, Ichiban Chinese and Japanese Restaurant is a small but reasonably attractive operation. The dining area is fitted out with the requisite sushi bar; a small Japanese style seating area is available to those feeling adventurous. The menu at Ichiban, as the restaurant's name announces, is about Chinese and Japanese cooking both. We began one dinner with a couple of personal favorites. Its filling, though a little heavy with shredded Chinese cabbage, also included ground pork and hints of ginger.
