Inner isshin
He can only be inner isshin in the Gauntlet of Strength and Reflection of Strength. To unlock him, it's necessary to have defeated both the Demon of Hatred and Isshin Ashina on the same savefile.
Inner Isshin is an optional Boss with three Deathblow Counters. He can only be fought in the Gauntlet of Strength and Reflection of Strength. Following the end of the first phase, Isshin pulls a large spear from the ground, gaining a new set of attacks that involve rapid short range sword swings, or slower but wide reaching spear strikes. He also uses a repeating pistol to harass from a distance as he closes in, and gains several attacks that cause shockwaves which deal chip damage even when deflected. If Wolf is not in range of any attacks, he will begin to relentlessly sprint after him, making it much harder to gain distance for healing or item usage. Furious lightning now strikes the field.

Once I got to phase 2 I had so much trouble telling the difference between his sweeps and his thrusts that I kept dodging when I should be jumping and jumping when I should be dodging. The attacks look too similar. Not to mention the flowers obscure the animations to make it harder still to tell what he's doing, I usually deal with that by pulling him over near the bridge where the ground is bare but after getting knocked off the edge in phase 3 yesterday I opted to avoid that today.
After that he can go into a spear chain with hyperarmor or go into pistol blast. Jump over the sweep, deflect the slash inner isshin Mikiri counter the thrust attack.

I just ran away from his black whirl of death in phase 1. Regardless of what he does after the slam he will either get hit or block your attack. I was focused. Categories : Bosses. His second attack will be similar to his phase 1 long range wind attack, the main difference is instead of it being vertical, it will be more of a distance slash attack.
