Because the aforementioned archive material has serious importance in understanding the socioeconomic aspects of the Ottoman province with the data it provides. In addition to these, other documents are containing the population figures of İzmir, although they are distributed to different sections. From this point of view, in the study, the documents about the population of Izmir, one of the largest and most important cities of the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century, were emphasized and it was aimed to introduce them.
